Default carb crack??!!??

i was cleaning my engine and found a crack in my carb in the yellow part that goes into the engine, can you tell me if its hurting my engine?

os 18 tm

sorry for the fuzzyness but you can see the black line on the yellow part

looks like thats where the pinch bolt hits its....

ya sure? because new carbs are like 80 bucks, and i dont have that right now

when taking close up pics with a digital camera set the camera to the macro setting. It usually has a little flower icon, try that and repost the pic.

I can't tell from the pictures.... but if its cracked, it should be replaced.

right, you wouldnt need a whole new carb, thats just the insulator

hi,

i'm pretty familiar with the os engines.... the part that is torn/chipped is the insulator for the carbs... it's there to prevent vapour lock... it works by preventing the heat from the engine to reach the carbs. act as a thermal insulator... they sell just the insulator alone and it shouldn't cost more than $10.... i suppose your local os dealer will have them... i think you should have them replace as i can't be certain that the pinch bolt have a proper fit to it, or the seal between the carb and the crankcase is messed up...
