JR vs. Hitec servoes
hey guys i was doing some looking for some new servoes. i came across the hitec 5955tg (torque: 333 oz/6v, speed:.15 sec./6v) for steering, and hitec 5996tg (torque:111oz/6v, speed:.10sec./6v) for throttle
or
jr servoes JR9100T(torque:370 oz/6v Speed:.15 sec./6v) for steering, and JR9100S(torque:180 oz/6v speed:.06/6v) for throttle.
the hitec servo steering:109.99
Throttle:109.99
the JR servo Steering:114.99
Throttle:114.99
so which servoes are better Quality?

Go the JR Digitals.
The throttle one is good but get this for steering instead.
http://www.jrradios.com/Products/Tec...rodID=JRPS8711
403 oz/in @ 6V
.15 sec/60° @ 6V
I use that on Steering and its very good even in my Revo.
I use a 8800t on the throttle/brake and its also very good and fast.
Make sure you got good batterys cause they draw more current than normal servos.

Use the Hitec 5955 on both your steering and your throttle/brakes. The 5955 (and robot 5995) have an upgraded motor and circuit board that make them better. Don't let the .15sec speed rating fool you either. It is a very fast servo and I believe Hitec was very conservative with that number. Comparing numbers from the servo Mfg's is like comparing Hp ratings. They are meaningless when comparing one brand to another. I used to run Airtronics 358 or 359 servos that are rated at .10sec and the Hitec is much faster. Plus you can run the Hitec 5955 on a direct LiPo (7.4v) so it makes over 400oz's of torque and the speed is lightning fast. Their customer service is top notch too.
Best regards,

Tony is absolutely correct , use the robot versions of the Hitec servos and you will be blown away at their power and speed .But be sure to use a lipo battery as they will kill a regular pack pretty fast.

Both are great servos company's!
I really like HiTec. I've been using there 5995TG in my Losi buggy (S&T) for all most 2 years now. The same two, as the day I put it together. zero issue..... By far the most popular servo at my home track too.
You damn near can't break them....

I have used JR and Hit high end servos. Both are great products.
JR customer service is top notch and with a 3 yr warranty any time you have a problem you usually get a brand new servo back. Good turn around time as well.
I currently use a 9100t and s servo. I emailed JR direct about running more then 6 volts with a lipo. They said absolutely not, use a regulator.
I know of some that run Hitecs with lipos and no regulator.
Both are great servos. I prefer JR. Go with what you like best.

I forgot to post in my original reply that I do know quite a few people running the JR digital servos and they do like them. I also know a few that run on direct LiPo and haven't had issues in over a year. But that Hitec 5955 on direct LiPo can take your finger off if you have it in the wrong spot....LOL
