If you want to just bash around the house the MBX 4 should be fine. However, if you serious about potentially racing someday then I would definitely consider the 5R. I went from a MBX 4 to an MBX 5 and my driving ability jumped immediately on the track. It was a significant difference.

Mugen MBX4RX to old ?

hello Im getting back into this hobby after being out for 4 or 5 years we now have a new track near my house and they just run 1/8 buggys and truggy

my qustion is would a MBX 4XR be to old . may not race right away but maybe later I know the XR was a great car. it came out just as I was getting out I had the RR. I can buy the XR for realy cheep and its new in Boxand I see nitrohouse sells parts for it still but not sure for how long

or would I be better of buying a used MBX5R ? with me being a novice would I see much difference in the XR and the 5R

Thanks Tim

If you already had an MBX4 I would say to run it. However since you are buying you are better off with a used MBX5 of any version than an MBX4. This is even more true if you are a novice driver. The MBX5 cars are a lot easier to drive.
