Not sure what plug, but was running byrons race 3000, I believe. I had both 20% and 30 % of byrons, tried both. The higher percentage was actually the 33% rtr blend. It just seemed harder to tune, idled poorly, and seemed to hang a lot when I would let off the throttle. Tried tuning and it was just a pita lol. Swithced to the 20%, and it was tuned within a minute or 2. Switched back to the 33%, tried to retune, same results. Wasn't sure if it was best to stick with the 20% for this engine, as that is what dynamite recommends. Figured maybe just needed to shim the head, maybe try a different glow plug, but after running with others who were running 30% in better engines and not being outpowered lol, I was pretty happy. I am at a new track though, so I figured if I wasn't outpowered before, it might be worth looking into gaining some power to outpower others lol.

brfore shimming the head try the the MC8 plug and Byrons Race 3000 NOT the rtr crap, that was the problem, the rtr fuel is junk and has way to much oil in it...the Race 3000 will yeild you much better results...

Well, I have a brand new gallon of Odonnel 20%, so I will probably burn that up first lol. Is there a significant difference in power? As mentioned, it was huge in the traxxas engines, I wasn't sure if it would be just as noticeable in a big block engine?

I was afraid you were going to say that. Now I have to buy more fuel lol. Thanks for the advice and opinions, it is always nice to hear other's experiences when they are actually based on experience and not just what they have heard or read lol.

well maybe you should see if you could exchange the 20% OD for some 30%, there is nothing wrong with OD fuel, i just prefer the Byrons...

lol well i guess your stuck with it, unless you can find someone at the track the runs 20% OD and sell it to him, but most likely you will end up having to run it yourself, oh well what do ya do lol...

Any other opinions related to engine performance, even if it is about a better engine choice?

That engine really likes a cold plug like the mc9 when using 30%.
I used trinity platinum with a cold plug on two of those engines. Very good performance from a budget mill.

That Jp1 is holding back your motor. The 427 is a good all around motor. The Jp1 is a low to mid pipe and will hold back your top end. The Jp2 is the better of the two for the 427. Your motor has a really good low as it is. That motor will open up really well with a two chamber Jp2.
