mbx5 is like a pro spec but without thick aluminum shock towers, ank arm, rear up right and the titanium camber and steering servo links. the mbx5r has different shock towers, longer shocks, different front end (to get more steering) and a different chassis to allow more droop. it is basically an improved prospec.

Mugen timeline MBX5 - MBX5 Prospec - MBX5R, each version moved the car forwards in performance reliability has never been an issue so dont worry about that for any of the above models.
