Default Mark Pavidis Joins Kyosho

Press Release:
Monday, November 12, 2007 - Kyosho America announces that, as of Monday, November 19th, Mark Pavidis will be joining them as a product designer at their Lake Forest, California facility. Pavidis is a two-time World Champion and the reigning IFMAR World Champion in 1/8 Off-Road, and has 18 years of R&D, product development, and design experience that he brings to Kyosho.

During his tenure as a Kyosho Factory driver, Pavidis has already been instrumental in the design and testing of certain Kyosho vehicles. Kyosho America's Marketing Director Steve Pond says, "Having Mark on staff will give us a distinct advantage because he's raced at the highest level of competition in the world for decades. Not only will he be able to design new products, his considerable racing skill will allow him to test them to the highest limits. Combined with the considerable talents of Gil Losi, Jr., were very excited about the possibilities of future products that will result from our newly-formed team."

It took them this long to make him part of R&D?

Mark has been employed by Pro-Line Racing for the last 8 years, so it's a little hard to make him "part of R&D" when he collects a paycheck from another company. He's already been part of the R&D process in a limited capacity by virtue of the fact that he's on the team, which is already stated in the press release. Now he will be on the staff of Kyosho America, which opens up the door for him to be part of the R&D team exclusively.

Wow. Sounds like an All-Star team. I just hope it's not TOO many all-stars in the same team. Egos tend to clash when that happens.

So he's going full time R&D? Who'll replace him on the race team?

My guess.......Drake.

I doubt Drake is going anywhere, and I doubt Pavidis will leave the racing scene.

Wow that is going to be a deadly combination. Losi has one of the lead designers along with Mark, which I believe he is at the top of his game right now, doing all of the field testing. I bet 08 is going to see some drastic changes over at Kyosho.

Kyosho started the ball rolling on this earlier this year when they hired Gil Losi Jr. I'm really excited to see what their next 1/8th scale will be like. I'm glad to see that they're picking up the "serious racing" mantle that AE and Losi seem to have dropped.
