New to nitro - engine and servos.
I have a lossi 8ight used race ready roller and am getting ready to choose engine etc. Im thinking of getting the Axe rossi mamba but there seems to be 2 versions - turbo and standard. Which will be better for the losi 8ight. Im also going to get 2 ace digital servos for around 100 each for steering and throttle. Will the Axe 2050 EFRA Polished Pipe Only be good for the mamba aswell? Cheers in advance

The turbo button makes more power but on the mid to top end. Its not needed and you can get it with either one and change the head button later. I prefer the standard head. The Thunder Tiger pipes are great also. Use the TT 2035 for bottom to mid power, or 2039 for mid to top power. Ace servos I hve no clue on. I've only used the Futaba S9351 & S9350 servos, which are enough for me.

Hey rcstunt, get yourself a JP3 pipe, Braz borrowed mine and I dont think i am getting it back.... go a hard anodized versions they are easier to clean!!!

I run the HS-5945MG (Hitec) on steering, seems to be adequate, and it was about $55. Would probably be a better throttle servo though. For about $120, the king of steering servos is the Hitec 5995-TG at 333 in/oz at 4.7v, 417 in/oz at 6v, and speeds of .16/.13 respectively... that's my next upgrade, and I'll move the 5945 to throttle.

The JP3 is one of the recommend pipes for the Mamba. This motor has a good powerband but runs out of steam on top if you have a large track. The cobra is better for large tracks where top end is crucial. The idle on the Mamba is the best I have seen. Just make sure to install the extra shim if you are going to run 30 percent fuel. This will make the engine easier to tune too.

if you are new to Nitro..the AXE Mamba may be a little difficult to break in for you.... These motors are very tight and will be very picky to tune and run for about the first 1.5 gallons.... to a person new to the hobby this could prove very frustrating, and could lead to you ruining the engine.... A motor like a LSOI Mach 427 will make as much power as the Mamba, but be much much easier to break in and tune.... You would be wise to learn the basics on a throw away mill like a Mach 427 before you buy a higher end motor like a Mamba....... The Mach 427's are about as user freindly as a nitro motor can get, and they make amazing power and RPM for its class of engine....... Once you have burnt a few gallons with the mach then consider buying a good .21........ As beleive it or not, but you being new to nitro I guarantee a mach 427 is going to offer you alot more performance then that mamba will.... That mamba will be picky to break in and tune, and really wont wake up for about 1.5 gallons ( Axe Rossi have tight motors) whereas the Mach will be screaming like a Banshee in about 10 tanks..........
Without question though, once you learn the ropes on a Mach, you will be able to move up to the high performance .21's quite easily.... But for a newbie some of these tight italian .21's may be quite overwhelming.... They are great motors though, but they need more skill to woek with.....

Personally I replace the conrod after break-in and about half way through what I feel the engine life is, or if the conrod falls off the crankpin with a soft tap, which means there is just a hair too much play.

get something smooth and learn to drive flawless THEN get faster engines. 3/4 of the guys with ultra fast engines cant even use what they have correctly and get beat soundly by those who drive smooth. Go tech 3 port, Nova BF21 or Dynamite Platinum is all that is needed. OWN the infield you will win the race.

My Axe Rossi Mamba was easy to tune. I run it with a TT 2035 header & pipe. Stable idle and quick snappy bottom end and easy 190-235F temps depending on you needle settings and ambient temperature. Plus if you need more power, drop in the X1 EVO package. Cheapest full upgrade I have seen out right now. You can run the Novarossi, RB or Axe Rossi glowplugs. They use the same heat range and reach.
