Default traxxas jato, any good?

I was looking into buying a used traxxas jato 2.5 and I just wanted to make sure that it is a good truck before I buy it.

very good with RPM A-Arms if you like speed, if you are going for the racing scene then get the Associated RC10GT2 or the Losi xxx-NT. for some reason the design of the jato is not fit for racing, the other 2 i mentioned would blow it away ON THE TRACK, if you were racing on the street then the jato would win hands down.

it's too small of a truck for the beast 3.3 motor they put in it...too fast.

the 3.3 moves the Revo great and look how big that thing is compared to the jato. it's stupid fast in the Jato

i have a jato that had a 2.5 that i swapped for a 3.3 cuz i realized even with the smaller motor it is still hard to handle on the track. now i just use it for bashing...might be selling it soon

yup, it will be good for bashing. thats normally what i use mine for, pretty tuff trucks if you ask me. the only thing i dont like about it is the a-arms and the steering components. the steering things wear out quickly if you bash A LOT. the a-arms are practically useless, they break soooo fast. i replaced mine with rpm a-arms and they have lasted me 8 months of constant bashing. also, i recomend not to buy any more traxxas jato tires for it. they wear out very quick.

+2 on the GT2. I had a Jato for awhile and I hated it. I put a lot of $ into it trying to get it to handle and put the power down on the track but it never happened. If your planning to race, buy the GT2, but for bashing and just plain speed the Jato would be fine. But even after saying that I guess I would still just but a RTR GT2.

What other rims will fit on a jato 3.3 (I don't care if they are 2.2 inch)
The tire that work on my track are not made for 2.8 inch rims.

any of the 2.2 inch rims will work as long as they are labled "traxx. nitro rustler, jato." any 2.2 off road tires you like, just try a bunch out and which ever ones you think fit your driving style the best.

if you are bashing on a track, i would reccomend the HPI firestorm. for a small track, the 3.0cc (.18) engine is geared so low it has a huge amount of torque. its also cheaper and better offroad out of the box (the rear tyres are brilliant!) than the jato. the design is also 90% the same as the GT2, for 3/4 the price RTR. (and its also really durable)
