Default Calling All Engine Whores: MBX5T Racing On Road Truggy...

I know there's a few real engine guru's out there on this board- you know who you are, the one's who show up at the track with 7 different mills just to experiement for shits n giggles...

anyhow- need your advice: I have an extra MBX5T ProSpec, I have it set to low low ride height, it's got low-profile road rages- the truggy's hot and a fun fast one to run around on pavement when it's too cold to run 1/8th on-track MRX4R type...

What is the best all-around choice for fast and easy-tuning for this on-road converted MBX5T application? If it's a Nova, what model Nova- if you have other suggestions, please post. I really wanna make something special out of this pro-spec.

Maybe... and I might check one out- but for 50 bucks more for a Nova 528XR, I'm curious to know if people would say 528XR is the best choice..

I agree with the 528XR if money is not an issue. That thing is a monster and can be geared with a 16 or 17 tooth clutchbell.

However, the Go Tech 7 port is far more affordable and has amazing top end.

Default uh, not really....

10 bucks is a big difference? I can buy a 528XR for just over 300 bucks- the GO 7 port is 299.... it's a 10 dollar difference. Sorry GO, no offense, I'm sure your motors are awesome, but I have a history with Nova... they've always treated me super well... I just don't see 10 bucks as "FAR" less money- it's negligible in monetary difference...

Default no- i didnt yet

that's the point- I'm looking for other suggestions on par with 528XR or like engines (OTHER than just GO please...) like RB, Picco, perhaps Ninja, even though I hear they can be a little picky...

no- i have not made my mind up- but it's tough to beat 310 for a 528xr- this is why I'm asking for other suggestions they made also be great deals on comparable engines

go 7 port is $209, but thats fine if you doent want a go engine there not for everyone...

another first pic for me would be a RB C6BBT or if run time isnt a big issue, and i dought it is being you like the nova 528 look into the RB 928 another monster engine...

well heres a suggestion,

swing by the onroad forum and see what kind of on road motors those guys are running.

there are differences in off and on road motors (port and crank timings mainly) but if you are going to consider an onroad motor you have to account that their motors are pushing slightly lighter cars than a truggy...so you may be better off going with an offroad motor.

If i were to pick a motor it would be the Picco P3 .28. couple that with a Jp-2 pipe and you could have yourself a screamin truck.

however i have owned the Nova 528, RB 928, werks B7.28PRO, GO .28, Picco .28 and the Werks is the strongest of them all so far and then the RB...i havent had a chance to get the GO .28 broke in yet, but from what ive seen from the GO .25 i expect great things...on the track the GO .25 pulled the RB 928 was faster than the Nova .28 and kept up with the Werks .28...the ninja is an amazing engine, but ive never owned one due to heard to many breakage issues...

I own the RB TM928.(Captian Insaneo motor!) If you gear it right 16 or 17 tooth pinion for on road, it will be the fastest truck/truggy out there.
On the other hand, in a high RPM setting with a single speed, on road, I would think that a RB C6 .21 on road plant $430. might be better.

$299 is suggested retail. No one pays that! It's $209 and with the coupon code from A-Main it's $25 less.
