That is correct, but he is right.

The laws of physics dont scale down for us. 6 mph in a 1/8th car is NOT equal to 60. The 1/8th car is still only moving at 6 mph.

Credit Wikipedia:

"Because it is a function of the flow of air over and under the car, and because aerodynamic forces increase with the square of velocity, downforce increases with the square of the car's speed and requires a certain minimum speed in order to produce a significant effect."

That minimum speed is at the upper end, or past the upper end of the speed of a 1/8th car. The term "low speed aero" does not apply to rc. On top of all that, we dont actually use wings, as they lack the airfoil shape. Im not saying a 1/8th wing has no effect...Im saying it has far less of an effect than most think.

Since you guys are arguing about scale this and speed that, why not think about weight? Full scale cars are over 2000lbs, ours are 8lbs. Its the same amount of wind and at 30-40mph it should produce more down force right?

So people don't buy high downforce wings to create more downforce, but to lift the rear of the car and make their car look better?

hmm , well wind doesnt just pass past the whole car, the wing itself if you imagine gets a constant hit of air flow when flying at 20 or 50mph so looking at the design of the standerd wing and then look at HD proline wings which are bigger and take more wind on board it does have a effect on stability get a device that can measure the amount of wind that a buggy wing recives and calculate the area of a standard and HD wing you might find somthing, not trying to be a smarty just get back to the topic.

id advise to buy the wing that suits your track conditions. if its fast technical try proline, if the Himoto suits flowing tracks buy that.

instead off buying a high down force wing we could also change the angele off the wing which will have the same effect as a high down force wing

Exactly what I said a few posts up.

Personally, I think the HD wings look better and thats about it. I hardly think anyone will notice a difference between the standard wing and hd wing.

you wont notice anythig excpet the extra weight and broken wing mounts

i use the Proline. Its bent.

Guess what. I dont care. There are far too many other things on a track that affect handling and negate the effects of the wing. Once airborne, things do change, but not enough that I'd notice. Unless the wing were stood up, as xrayeddy has been saying.

+1 Jason!!!!!!

I think that this could be a highly productive thread about aero and such, but then we have people come and bash each other...so antiproductive.

Can we get some moderators in here please???
