Default Best "Bang for your Buck" .21 engine

I just got a used Jammin X1 CR FTE roller and honestly dont have the money for a O.S. .21VZ at the moment. I'll likely NOT be racing a ton, but want to have at least a fighting chance on the rare occasion that I do get to race.

What are some other good .21 engines that will have good torque and decent RPM's for a mid-sized track?

Hey, RCHS, Congrat's on 8th scale buggy. I would recommend the OS VG 21. Its cheap and a great motor. Ive got 2 gallons on mine so far and it's still going stong. Your gonna love this class.. Enjoy!

The Novarossi or Go Tech 3 ports are very fast. The Go Tech you can get for around $100-115. Very Nice!!

I have an OS RG, the predecessor to the VG and its an amazing engine, so if the VG is any better, it would get my vote. I also ran an Ofna hyper 21 8 port race earlier this year and it performed quite well also.

The most inexpensive motor for club racing IMO would be,

O.S. .21 VG (P) Off-Road Buggy Engine

A little more expencive but a little better would be,

RB Concept S3II 3-Port Sport Off-Road Buggy Engine(MY 1st choice)
Go Technology .21 7 Port Race Engine (Turbo Plug)
Go Technology .21 5 Port Race Engine (Turbo Plug)
Werks Racing Team Line B3 Pro .21 Competition 3-Port Buggy Engine (Standard Plug)
Novarossi N21B 2001 BF .21 Off Road 3 Port Buggy Engine (Standard Plug)

1+ for the GO techs,i have a 7 port with about 1.5 gallon on,going very strong! I enjoying smoking the more expensive engines! I choosed the GO engine range as i was a newbie when it came to tuning engines,so if you do any damage tuning its only 150 quid paper weight not a 350 one!!

Go Tech

I got the 3 port from amain for $99 (think it's $114 now though). Ran it this past weekend. This thing rips!! Honestly, I can't believe how fast this thing is for the price! I'm probably going to grab another for a spare!

I'm leaning towards the Go Tech 3 port....

NOW,

What's a decent cheap pipe to run with this thing?

Been using a Picco P3 (non pullstart) which cost 75 , haven't had any problems with mine. Put about 3 quarters of a gallon on it and it keeps up with the RB WS7 engines etc and it holds its tune very well . For a pipe i've been using the HN/Eureka 2027. About another 5 people at my club have been using them and have had no problems.
