That is one DIRTY engine. Hopefully it just came out of a used vehicle, otherwise I would question the owners maintenance routine.

EDIT: Even so I still question the owners maintenance routine. The back plate was pulled off before the rest of the engine was clean. You ALWAYS clean the outside before opening the engines up, just incase something can be fixed.

Guys I just wanted to let you know the reason I posted the engine failures was to correct a miss statement that said that SH engines filled the blown engine thread on sgrid which wasn't true. The fact is all engines can fail, they are put under extreme conditions and are mass produced. Most engines companies not only make their brand but many others as well.

But if the engine is dead, normally you don't care what it looks like if you are tearing it apart anyways LRP replaced the engine no questions asked and said they were aware of the issues that spec 3's are having.

I'm a SH guy myself, but I've had more SH engines fail than I've had my share of Toki manufactured engines. The only SH engine I have that hasn't yet failed is my .12 TNT, designed by Paris himself.

thats manufacture defect and they admitted to it.

I'm sorry racing is considered "hard on things" these days

My old STS gear holds up... and that says a LOT.

Oh and btw...

Dont ever buy a SH PT21XB2-P8... that ceramic coated piston will kill your engine in a hurry if something snaps. Get the one w/o the ceramic coated parts:

It has nice porting on the crank tho

it was said toungue in cheek Kemo. the problems i had with my SH based engines where not mechanical as such, just small things like the new plastic sleeves they went too with the 3 needle carbi, this was easy fixed with some loctitie product though.

the 2 needle carb with alloy sleeve was heaps better in my opinion.

I'm just talking about quality control, they had a very large batch of bad engines lately, but word is they have it figured out.

If anyone is to look for a kickass SH engine, get this one:
http://www.rcmart.com/catalog/produc...ducts_id=10998

I dont know anyone else that will stock the PT21XB1-P8

If you want their most potent .21, gotta find someone with the PT21XTR1-P6

SH faces one huge problem about getting it to the USA... their main distributor is Hobby People. Now, being Hobby people is mainly all XTM, maybe they'll bring it in as a XT3. That could work, but then it'd have the XTM name badged over it.

who manufactures engines for XTM? A: SH

Who is SH's USA distributor? A: Hobby People

What company does Hobby People strongly push? A: XTM.

SH isn't a name that is common here in the states, heck you cant get any of their good engines that are readily available in the USA. Most hobbyshops will look at you funny if you mention SH (uncommon name). But if you mention one company that has SH manufacture their engines, you know well they know what you are talking about.

The only ones available in the states are what Hobby People sells, the pro .12 and the touring car engine.

Kemo, XTM has SH build their engines yes, that does not mean the "z car" will be known as a XTM product in the states.

what makes you think that hobby people will be the importer anyway?

they import XTM products not SH.

LRP engines are sold in the states yes? as are dynamite & sportswerks all built by SH engines.

This is what you do not understand...

SH BRANDED products are not to be sold by anyone else in this country, but Hobby People themselves.

Dynamite, Associated (LRP), NOSRAM, and others went to SH to have engines manufactured under their names. Dynamite's "SH" engines are sold by Horizon Hobby. LRP... distributed by ANY place Associated is sold. NOSRAM, mainly Europe and Australia and so on.

Since SH's buggy is a SH Engine product, they are to be limited to Hobby People.

While that sinks in... you can browse where their vehicles will more than likely be sold:

so what makes you think SH is XTM? other than the fact SH build engines for XTM.

Show me a SH product that they distribute.

I never said SH was XTM

I think the problem here is that you have no clue at all about whats going on.

I want you to go browse most USA websites for a SH branded engine... one that is a LEGAL distributor/dealer besides Hobby People.

http://www.hobbypeople.net/mfr/SH01.asp are the only ones

EDIT-

The only other SH engines you'll find sold here in America are those from HSP hobby dealers (redcat racing, Exceed, Himoto) HSP has an option for rebadging companies of what engine brands to choose from. One of the engines is the basic .28.
