RC10gt Conversion
Has anyone converted their rc10gt with a .21? I'm looking to find out what type of shaft do I need to make it fit in the truck. They make conversions but don't tell you what motor you need or how to install it. Any help would be great.

I have a customer who bought a .21 conversion but does not tell you what you need for engine and adapters? The company is New Era and we called them out for tech. help and the owner bitched me out and told me it is in the instructions and I was looking at the instructions and there was nothing in them. And then he hung up on me. So I would highly recommend not buying anything from New Era they Suck! But I would like to help my customer find what he needs to get a .21 stuffed in is RC10gt.

I seen a rc10 with a o.s. .18tz and that was insane. So a .21 will be sick. I might have to use a 1/8 scale flywheel and maybe clutch also. I was hoping someone has done this conversion and has gone throught the engineering steps to make one work.

Just google "rc10gt .21 conversion" and you should find few on the web.
There is a company that made one but I don't remember the name or if they still produce it... I'm getting too old

just a note about new era.. i havent dealt with their customer service at all but i must say the best thing made for the gt is their front bulkhead.. sure it costs a bit but it is so worth it! Before getting it i was going through a nylon (stock) bulkhead each race night (kept yanking itself off the 4 screws)

New Era .21 GT Conversion
I did the conversion a few years ago.

I bought it with the double deck chassis.

The motor was an OS .21 RGX (with a pull-start). It was very fast but I had to experiment with gear ratios because at stock gearing, it would spin out and do donuts like crazy. The clutch bell that they provided is custom made. I tried using other clutchbells (T-Maxx) but ended up stripping the spur gears. Also, the differential melted a few times, so I bought an aluminum differential. I wanted to lock the diff so I tightened it down.
One other problem was I had to custom make a manifold be cause the motor sticks out some, and if you use an 1/8 manifold, it would hit the wheel or rub the tire. When I asked New Era, they sold me one but it still hit the tire. (so I'm not fond of New Era Customer Support at all).
I even put in a OS .21 VG pull start. Lots of power, lots of weight. I installed an OS .18 CVR because its lighter, cheaper.
I would suggest the O.S. 18TZ (S)-T w/11L Rotary Carb. You can stay with the stock chassiss, and even modify to fit a MGT tank.
OS .21 VG
Displacement: 0.211 cu in (3.46cc)
Bore: 0.654" (16.6mm)
Stroke: 0.63" (16.0mm)
Practical RPM: 3,000 - 36,000 RPM
Power Output: 2.0 ps / 30,000 RPM
Weight: 12.24oz (347g)OS .18 TZ
Displacement: 0.183 cu in (3.0cc)
Bore: 0.629" (16.0mm)
Stroke: 0.590" (15.0mm)
Practical RPM: 3,000-34,000
Output: 1.8ps @ 29,000 RPM
Weight: 7.8oz (222g)
