I've run a Mugen Prospec, Losi 8ight and Kyosho WC. The Losi 8ight is a VERY fast car, especially on relatively smooth tracks. I've seen a lot of parts wear on the car, but have never broken it, even after some very rough crashes. If you have the time and cash to keep one in top shape, and you're used to running gas truck, you'll probably have the least amount of adjustment necessary to get used to the car. They're a handful on rough tracks, but they can still go fast on the surface of the moon.

The Mugen is very good on rough tracks, like others have mentioned. I had some trouble with fragility of some of the parts on the car though.

I'm new to the Kyosho, but I'm hoping that the car will be good on both smooth and rough tracks, be durable and not require parts replacement as often.

My son runs a Losi, I am the sponsor. He comes from driving MT a Revo on a very technical track. To drive the 8 is very different than the Revo, so he is adjusting since july and will do so for a bit longer.

I did what you are doing, asking what to get. Got the 8 because got tired of waiting for the RC8.

Now after all that introduction I will say that by asking you will get different answers from well intentioned people but with different backgrounds and driving styles. Any new car will feel probably great out of the box, then you will realize that you need to play around with the setup, engine tunning, and your driving to win.

Whatever you choose you will need to dedicate some effort to make it go the way you want it.

Ask around your track, because to ride on some else experience is a big plus, maybe need to buy what they are racing.
