Default vspec popping noises

when i give it some gas after after a slow speed section of our track the motor kinda sputters and pops a coulpe of times before running properly. if its after high speed run its all ok. i have it in a hyper8.5 and i do notice that sometimes the fuel lid isnt alway fully sealed. kind of lifts a bit. but even when it is properly cloesed it still does it.
tuning the engine doesnt remove the popping at all, but does have the otherwise expected results. i cant find any airleaks and ive changed fuel tubing to be safe all round. plus a sealed the backplate to be safe. the front bearing doesnt leak either. the motor runs great and doesnt stall or anything just this problem which at times is a nuisance. sort of like it hestates and coughs. does anyone know what it might be?
thanks.

When I have seen this trouble before it was related to carbon build up on the piston and around the exaust port ,actually causing pre ignition . I cleaned up the top of the piston and exaust port ,put in a new plug and it was gone. I'm sure you have tried a new plug right ? IF your running a cold plug/p6 or p7 try going to a p3 ,if you have a new p3 in it and it still does it then you need to clean things up.

you said splutters etc when you start to give throttle sounds like your bottom end is maybe too rich, with that motor you should be able to take off like a rocket as soon as you give throttle, so check you tune. for a rough tune guide give your fuel line a squeeze normally around 3-5 secs it should start to idle hi. also good idea to check your clutch is all good but from what you said it sounds like bottom end to me.
hope this helps

Also you could try adjusting the midrange needle, to me it sounds as though the bottom end needle is a little rich and loading up as you go through the slower sections of the track.
