Default radio

I bought the Losi 8T RTR and it came with a Specktrum Radio, my question is it a good investment to upgrade my radio. My friend told me that his steering has improved because he was lent a Futaba 3PK. Is he pulling my leg? Is there any truth to this? and if there are truth to his claim, what radio do u guys suggest that's at a reasonable price. Thanks guys

Jatoman,

Why would u consider that the 3pk is the best radio on the market? how does it improve your driving? does it make it easier, cuz for me with all of the setting I wouldn't know where to start.

I use spectrum its just fine. Servos increase/decrease steering. Radio with digital servo maybe. The other radios have more adjustments but if you're asking this question you'll probably never use most of it. Work on your driving technique b4 use spend $$$. If you have money to burn get a quicker stronger servo for your steering. Thats where you'll see the most improvement!

The 3PK has better response time from when you pull the trigger or turn the wheel and the car responds to those movements over the spectrum radio. I am using the Futaba 3PM with the FASST System built in and I love it. Its a tick slower than the 3PK and the FASST system is flawless.

In other words, if you feel that you are doing fine with your current radio, I wouldn't change.

I had one of those, and I can say that either futaba radio will have faster response time than the Spek 3.0.. that can be a bad thing though for some.. I personally like it.

the 3pks fasst has better response time and is more precise but if u already have a good radio there would really be no reason to change.

I have used the Airtronics M8 and M11 both with Spektrum and synthesized, JR Z1 with Spektrum and regular, JR XS3, and the Futaba 3PK and now the 3PKS. I think the Futaba electronics are better. The Futaba is more precise and faster than anything I used previously. Plus to ME it feels better than anything else out. With the JRZ1 coming in at a close second. When using the Z1 I liked the feel of it better without the Spektrum. I don't know, it just wasn't what I wanted while using it.

Basically, buy as good a radio as you can afford to buy but make sure it's comfortable. A radio is not like buying a chassis or an engine. A radio will last you 10 years or more if you take care of it. So just make sure that you buy what's right for you. There is no "best" radio for everyone.
