Default OS VG carb on an OFNA hyper .21 8-port

i looked on older threads but didnt get too much info. can someone please explain what is so great about switching the hyper 8 carb for the o.s. vg carb? does it work well and does it cause any power loss?

No power loss.

It works just fine. The thing is, some people believe that the OS carb is easier to tune and holds a tune better. It really is one of those preference things...

I ran both back when I had my Hyper 8 port and wound up keeping the hyper carb because I didnt notice an improvement.

Toejam is right. I would just add that part of the reason for people believing the OS carb is easier to tune is because it only has 2 needles and they Hyper is a 3 needle carb. So if you are less experienced with engine tuning there's that.

Regardless, here is some good reference material...
