Default Help: inconsistant idle

i have an rc10gt2 with the stock ae .15 and as i run it longer and longer on the tank of fuel i have to continue to turn the idle up so it will stay running. And the engine still has a lot of compression so i don't think it could be when the engine gets hot. Any help appreciated

Thanks

Sure sounds like a worn piston & sleeve. If you don't mind taking it apart try pulling them out and see if you can shove the top of the piston past the top of the sleeve.

I thought my O.S. 12CV had decent compression to it as well when I got the same problem. Not only could I run the piston past the top of the sleeve but I could keep going until it came right out.

it has so much compression though that i cant even turn it over hardly with my finger, you still think it could be worn?

Check for air leaks around the carb neck, the backplate and the front bearing. Your pinch and compression sounds good.

this may be irrelevant, but my parents had a car with an air leak in the fuel line, so sitting at a junction the engine would slowly rev up. so +1 on the air leak check. infact, just replace all the fuel line.

Has this engine ever been apart before? I know my O.S. engines were built great from the factory, then I'd go inside to do something and whatever part I took off would develop a leak next time I ran it.

Could it be leaking air out of the rubber boot by the low speed, would that cause it to have inconsistant idle?

ANY air leak would cause your engine to run/idle erratic.......
