Exclamation Newbie to t-maxx NEEDS HELP!!!

ok i got ahold of a t-maxx a couple of days ago. it wasnt running because the guy detuned it so bad, i fixed that. but when i got it running and i would give it gas to go instead of smoothly taking off. it jumps violently like the transmission is engaging and disengaging. and then to top it off when i flip the switch on the remote to put it into reverse sometimes it wont go into reverse. or when it does go into reverse it wont come out!?! lol im new to these trannys can someone help me out?

On the jerking on takeoff, it could be your engine clutch not engaging properly or the forward clutch in the transmission. It could also be a high idle which will also cause it to not shift between forward and reverse like it should.

ok i see what you are saying, but the jerking almost seems like what you said but at the same time like the tranny is gone. is there any adjustments that i can make to stop that?

Unless this is the 3.3 transmission, it will do this all the time. Both my buddy and I had the original tranny on our T-maxx and it always did that until we switched to the 3.3 tranny. Same thing with the reverse. You have to play with the switch a little to get the tranny to engage.

The only way to get a postive forward motion out of the old maxx is to install a forward only conversion. This will replace the internal transmission clutches with a direct drive unit. Of course as the name implies, it also does away with reverse.

same thing happened to me with my 2.5, it turned out to be the little arm that switches the tranny into reverse,it was too far forward so it would like be in neutral then it would switch into forward(sometimes reverse), just a ??? does the 3.3 tranny bolt right in to the place the old one does?

Can you run the 2.5 clutch bells with the 3.3 slipper?
