Are you trying to race it? Or, do you just want blistering power?
The 427 is a version of the mach .26 engines. They have lots of torque at very low RPMs.
To tone it down for racing use a JP-2 and get yourself a short header. You could also go with an OS 2060.
To let it breath and get stupid go with the JP-1 or any kind of .053 with a long header.

I have seen both the JP1 and the JP3 both used on the 427. The stock pipe is an 063 copy. The JP1 seemed to help throttle response and bottom end and the JP3 should allow it to rev more up top without loosing too much of the JP1's bottom end.

What makes you thing the stock pipe is an 063 pipe copy and not an 086?

Tex,
Thansk for the info. I have both a JP-1 and JP-2 on the way. Gonna give them both a whirl.

Um...my 2 cents. The 427 with JP-1 on the buggy=waaay too much bottom end. I was toasting tires in like 3 weekends because of too much wheelspin. I suppose if one drove easy it wouldn't be a prob. I have a heavy finger I guess. JP-3 with throttle endpoints set to open carb halfway worked awesome for me. Plenty of top end and torque.

I like the 053 series of pipes the best, and they are cheap also.
