8ight T RTR
 

I just got my new 8ight T RTR and plan on racing it. After looking at the owners manual that came with this RTR it appears that it might be the same one that comes with the race roller and it is showing that all 3 diffs have fluid in them. I know how much fluids in the diffs makes as opposed to grease that came in my LST2 so im wonderign if the RTR 8ight T has grease or fluid...im hoping i dont have to rebuild them right away.

The diffs have grease. The manual shows fluid cause that is what is supposed to be in there. The grease will be fine for a short while. But if you plan on racing replace the grease with diff oil. It will make the car much better on the track. Plus it is fairly easy to maintain the diffs on the eight. There is a thread for the 8ight have you checked that out yet? You can find anything you need in there.

Aside from the obvious engine, pipe and electronics here is a list. I have not seen the RTR in person so this is going off the differences on the 8 buggy.

shock towers, shock caps, shock shafts, shock pistons, shock springs, shock seal retaining caps (lower caps), hinge pins, hex drives and wheel nuts, chassis, diff grease (instead of diff oil), steering hinge pins, sway bars, engine mounts, clutch bell, and clutch shoes.
Also I assume the body come painted on the RTR.

The body has different proportions also. The RTR looks shorter and stubby kind of. At first I did not like the 8T body. But after a while I liked how it was different than others while still having an aggressive look. Now when looking at other truggies I don't like the way their shells look. LOL. The T kind of grew on me.

This should get anyone started. Check the titles when you click on them to see what the topic is about. The top thread was 8 pages back. I know a lot of people don't have patience for that kind of thing, but this will help keep the new threads down. The more people post in one thread the easier it will be to find the info you need. Hey Air8 - I was wondering about something you had mentioned before about the 8T's diffs. You mentioned that they were filled with grease. Do you know this from first had knowledge or are saying this 'cause of the 8B's RTR diffs are filled with grease. The resonse I am asking is 'cause in the October issue in RCCarAction they do a review on the 8T RTR and they said " Like the Race Roller, the RTR arrives with it's diffs factory-filled with silicone fluid rather than grease. This helps prevent the diffs from unloading as often happens with grease-filled diffs.". They also go on to mention that "Unlike the Race Roller, the RTR has four plastic shoes rather than a two aluminum/two plastic mix." I was under the impression that the 8T RTR has a 2 shoe set-up.
Don't think I am trying to call you out or anything like that. I am just curious 'cause I bought a 8T RTR and was trying to find out all I can about it. You seem to be very familiar with the 8B's abd 8T's so I didn't know if RCCarAction maybe has a miss print or something like that, which I have seen many times before.

Let me know So when my comes in that way I know if I need to change the fluids in it.

Actually, I say this based off of persons I've talked to and info I have read. I don't have the RTR and I probably shouldn't say anything without actually taking the diffs out of the RTR myself. If I'm incorrect I will apologize right now. In the Losi Truggy thread, some have posted about grease in the diffs and I just went along. When you get your truck check out the manual on how to remove the diffs, its fairly simple, and then post back what you find. Plus this way you will be inspecting your own vehicle and learning the ins and outs of it.

I feel comfortable with the Losi vehicles only cause I drive bad enough to need to work on them a lot. I'm very pleased with how Losi designed the vehicles: performance/maintenance. You will be pleased also. But remember, there are pros and cons to everything and nothing is perfect. So there are a few things you will not be pleased with. Just letting you know.

The 8t rtr comes with grease in the diffs. This is first hand knowledge.

7-10-5 would be a good starting point. That is what the Roller comes with. Always possible to change if it doesn't suit you. I had read the kit set up is good for a lot of tracks and it suits my tracks very well. So I have changed only the rear inner camber link location to the #4 spot cause the same thing was recommended for the buggy to gain corner speed.
