Default Starter box upgrade?

Hey does anybody know if you can use a starter box on a buggy that has a roto starter installed? cuz I would like to upgrade to a starter box for racing purposes but I'm not sure if I would need to buy a new engine?

Yes you can use a starter box with the roto start instaled. But you might want to take off the roto start and put on a backplate instead because there will be less resistance so basicialy you can go faster, also when any sort of starter that attatches to the back of the motor is instaled the motor has to be higher off of the chassis so the starter box wheel might have a hard time making it all the way up the the flywheel but that can always be fixed.

The short answer is yes, you can use a bumpbox to crank a motor with an onboard starter system installed. That said, you will need to insure the flywheel and starter box wheel can reach each other with your setup.

Most of the newer on board starter RTR's I've seen had oversized flywheels so they could be started with a bumpbox with no changes needed. Most on board starter equipped cars will have taller motor mounts so the starter will clear the chassis. Just make sure the flywheel can be reached by your bumpbox wheel. If not you will need to either replace the starter with a solid back plate and install lower motor mounts and/or a larger diameter flywheel.

I went to a starter box and kept the roto start installed without any problems. The rotostart has saved me from missing a couple races when my starter box had a malfunction(dead battery)

Its on the Xtm Xt2 buggy, but the flywheel seems to be about 2-3mm inward, will that work?

for sure can fit..but find tune the marker location dude
but before buying the starterbox ( which is a good investment ) i suggest
u to try it first..if it rubber thingy did not touch your flywheel..u can either lowered your engine mount ( by 1.5mm to 2 mm ) or buy optional Xtm engine mount.
