I wouldn't worry about that. These are not "light switch" motors. They are very controllable while still being strong. Fine tuning with header/pipe and clutch settings is easy enough.

The TT clutch is no different from any 3 shoe clutch. Depending on the track you pick your shoes, springs and bell size.

the 5ports bottom end can be tamed down with clutching, gearing, carb restricting and pipe...

the 7port has a nasty top end that can also be tamed down by clutching, gearing, carb restricting and pipe...

i run both, but i myself prefer the 7port, cause of the massive top end speed, and the bottom isnt to shabby either...

Hi guys. The 5 Port I purchased for my XUT Truggy has ended up staying in my GS Storm Buggy. I had it in the buggy for the break in process, but it is so much fun in the Buggy it looks like it going to stay there. I am running Dynamite 086 pipe, 14 tooth bell, and carbon shoes with 1.0mm springs. It is a weapon !!.
So it looks like I will need to get a .28 6 Port for the Truggy now (that´s a shame ). I don´t want to spend any more on pipes etc if I don´t have to, so what would be the best pipe for the .28 out of a Dynamite 053, or a JP-3 ?
I run what you guys would call reasonably tight/technical tracks, with moderatly short straights. Any feedback greatly appreciated

well the 053 i feel will be to much bottom, and will make the truggy hard to drive, but will give ok run times...

the JP-3 will be easier to drive, but will make the 28 thirsty and be a bit of a fuel hog...

Thanks Jason, looks like a new pipe might be required if I go that way. What do you run on your .28 / Truggy combo ?
My other option is to buy a 7 Port for my buggy, and put the 5 Port back into the truggy as originally planned. I have the 086 pipe for 5 port / truggy combo and an 053 which I believe is the right pipe for the 7 port /buggy combo.

go with the 28 for the trug...ive been running the 086 and 2047 pipes on the 28 with great results...i would go for the dynamite 086 if you doent want to spend to much money, and the performance is great, run times to...

how long do these engines last? Are they easy to tune? which will you recomend for a jammin x1 crt(truggy)?

Cheers Jason, Will take your advice and go the .28 way. All that power with economy as well - sounds like me !!
Thanks for your advice on that run in shim too, it made my life a lot easier. Removed it last week as temps stabilized and engine is getting easier to turn over now. Up to 35 tanks and it's starting to really haul now.
Turbo head is next thing on the shopping list.
The 5 port is a nice combo in my buggy, as the strong bottom end suits the tracks I run. With the softer clutch set up and 14 tooth clutch bell it isn't too much of a handful when you gun it out of corners, and it winds up pretty good on the medium length straights with the 086 pipe too. Now I've just got to get used to the power as compared to my old RTR engine

Hey guys!! I'm planning to change my go tech .28 to a pullstart so that I can install it to my savage... I've seen this selling in a main hobbies:http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/17037 and I was wondering If this pullstart is a direct fit to the engine or does it need other parts in order to install it??? Pls. help me... thanks!!!!

The 5 port turbo hands down unless you want to go with the .25 or .28, but i like the .21 for sure, add a 053,086,1005 and you got a great set up there. The 5 ports tune awesome, you can run them a little fat on the bottom to help tame it down and still move out.

davelee, that pullstart will work with the .28 sport engine but you will also need this part http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/16321 it is what the pullstart attaches too. These parts also will work with the race .25 and .28, but you will also have to replace the crankshaft with the crankshaft from the sport engines.

i would say to go with the .28...all the top end of the .21, but with the bottom it takes to move a truggy...however if you want the best of both worlds check out the .25...anyway you choose you will be very happy with Go engines...

I am considering trying the .28 in my truggy. What is the recommended pipe for this motor in a truggy?

Also how does this motor compare to the os motors?
