what i love is when you smoke some in your racing through out the day and at the end of the day you stand around talk compare notes and the shock to there eyes at times what engine you have used to dominate when they have spent over double on theres .....

you give them a drive of your buggy / truggy and then they pleasantly shoocked just how dam good these motors really are

We pretty much work the same overhere as there is quite few of us using them and I've been running Go for almost 3 years now (had the first official 1 in NZ as a test motor-still got it just rebuilt with 5.5 internals) and it"s hard case to go past someone and have them ask "what the hell have you got in that"

It still makes me laugh how other engine brand users call them throw away!

when they're the people who seem to have a new engine every 2 months or so??? whether thats due to longevity or them just not being happy with their engines performance i can't say but i also seem to notice when a Go engine user needs a new engine they more often than not get another Go!

i've had the 5 port in my buggy since June 2008 and all its had done to it is a new 5.5 carb and the one in my Truggy since Xmas 2008 and its got a 5.5 rod/crank and carb cos i had neglected it a little!

now i know theres some terrific engines out there but for me the userbility, price, and support is 2nd to none and performance is on-par with the "big-boys" and i too will be running them for a long time to come.....

Mike

p.s i don't know about all you guys but i think one of those orange heads will look just fine in my buggy!!!!

Grizz, here's some pics. The pin that is worn came out of the P/S/R set that blew the clip and has under a Gallon on it. I mistakenly said it was a TIN pin but it is not. The other one that blew was but I think I pitched it. I'll look for it and hopefully I can find it. The other pics show a TIN Pin I just took out of my 7 Port that I just finished breaking in. It has about a gallon on it. Changed it out with an OS pin and clips to try and change my luck. It is worn a little but not like the first one. Also the coating comes off as you can see.

Hey mike what is the powerband like on the go engines.. With the speeds that i use ,it has a great power band the whole way thru the revs ,so they are easy to drive at whatever throttle you are giving it..

Are you racing this sunday? Ari is bringing his truggy out for a run.

are you lubing them before you run? When I did mine I put some of mmods break in oil on the parts. Just flip piston con rod over spurted it in between rod wrist pin, worked around, installed then put together. put some arond con rod where it goes on the crank. also did rear bearing just cus.

Hi Juzza,

i find the 5 port to be the best performer out of the Go's in terms of consistent power throughout the whole range it just seems to have heaps of power when ever i need it. a lot more noticable to me since switching pipes from the 0801 to the 2072.

i think for our track the 5 is what you want to go with as the 3 loses a little on the straights and the seven's top end just doesn't get to open up fully IMO.

im running for sure bro and it will be great to see Ari's truggy in action, if it goes like his buggy then god help us.....lol

im running the 5 port as well so check it out and let me know your thoughts bud.

Mike

Didn't know Go motors required this.. My Novas, RB's, Werks, OS's never did. Heat it, blow in the exhaust line to get fuel in the motor and fire it up. Break it in like every other motor. Haven't had wrist pin wear like this with any other motors I run or have run.

Don't know if they do. It's something I just do.

Might have to look into some of that for future use. All I know is when my 7 port blows, I'm done with GO. I thought they were the cats ass when I got my first one from RB Mods but it's been down hill since. Got enough money into P/S/R's since the first one wore out I could of bought another NEW motor. Just left a bad taste in my mouth and my wallet. So before long I'll have a Gen 5 5pt and I'm not sure what Gen the 7 port is but they will be up for sale for parts.

Well I am going to find out if mine lasts. since I just put in new wrist pin con rod c clips. My 5 port is a gen 4 because of the crank. It has a circle cut in the end on it. MOstly you can tell by the heads. The first ones said go and 21. then they came with pretty engraving on it. and they changed the carb. I am sure grizz, 22racer[anyone heard from him lately?] or mark from massive mods can give out the info. Also there are a lot of variables here. 1; how are the bearings? are they a little loose causing vibration? are you putting the new conrod in facing the right direction? whats the shim pack? and are you running to lean on the hsn? how many gallons through the engine? and last but not least is the crank pin worn? I think a while back it was 22 racer or grizz that mentioned some thing about that problem.

My 7 port has the dimple or hole in the crank pin. Just says GO and .21 on the Orange head. I know the 5pt is a Gen 5. I hope you have better luck than I did.

Interesting with the wrist pins. I have never heard of any problems before.
I always slop lots of after run oil on anything new going into the motor. It takes a little time for the oil/fuel to fully penetrate something like the fine space between the pin and the rod bushing. If it's running dry for that initial period until the oil gets in there, you could be putting 5 hours wear on it in 30 sec when you fire it up for the first time. Same reason I strip down a new motor and lube everything then re-assemble before firing it up for the first time. Otherwise it's like starting up a brand new full sized car engine, waiting till it's running and then filling it with oil !!! (not quite the same, but you get the point).
BigMatt - let us know how those new pins and clips go mate.
