Default Steering problem on my Losi 8ight

When I turn on the radio on and then the switch on my Losi 8ight the steering servo turns the tires all the way top the right and stuck. I can not move the tires at all. I tried changing the steering on the radio but the tires didn't move.

Is there anything I can do to fix this or is the steering servo shot? I am using a JR650.

Thanks...

Yup, it sounds like the gears in your servo are stripped.

did you put the steering horn on wrong? pull it off, turn everything on so it straightens the servo out, then place the horn on. Not sure if you did that or not.

Hey guys I also have a problem with my Losi 8t steering. It seems likes there's alot of binding to the point that my servo cannot get back to its neutral position. When I remove the top brace and loosen the screw to the main servo saver it seems fine but after I tighten the screw the binding is back. I have a hitec 5955 servo that has a claimed torque of 333 oz and it can't turn the darn wheels. Please help! Suggestions on what maybe the culprit to the problem are appreciated.

Thanks

r6ryder,

It sounds like you already know what the problem is. Try putting a small washer in between the bearing and the upper plate, then retightening your screw. Use some loctite, then you can run it a little looser, but not have the screw come out.

I was told for Losi 8ight pro you should put the higher torque servo on the throttle than for steering. I have a JR 650 and JR 550 on the buggy now - 650 is setup as steering. I also have a JR Z9000T on my Revo and Muggy that I was thinking of taking one of them and putting it on the buggy.

Which servo should I use for steering and throttle?

steering issues on 8 : check your servo saver , it probably backed off and is rubbing the chassis

A servo with 125 oz/in and a speed of at least .15 will work really well for almost any application. These are usually well built with few problems. You get what you pay for with servos. With Ace, JR, Air, Hitec, Futaba servos you can't go wrong. Blue Bird servos are great as well as long as you get the correct servo for the application. I'm using a BB 621MG in my 8 for now. It's 100oz/in at .10. Plenty powerful plus I have lipo/regulator so the servo gets more juice for a bit better performance. Steering has an Ace 1015--200oz/in at .108. It's awesome

Put the higher torque servo on the steering, and the quicker one on the throttle. You want to blip your throttle and be smooth with your steering.
