Cool My Misbehavin' RC Speed Results for Team Losi 8ight.

Hi all I just did the speed determining test found on Misbehavin' RC and got the result of 60mph exactly with my Team Losi RTR 8ight. It has the Dyamite 4 shoes clutch with gold springs, a chrome OFNA single chambered pipe, and everything else is 100% stock. Is this a good speed? Also since it put my engine under such strain in my opinion I did after-run after it cooled down with the piston at bottom dead center. I have one question. What will it do if I take out the copper spacer under my cooling head?

I doubt your buggy went faster than 42 mph with a stock 14 tooth clutchbell. The stock engine just simply doesn't turn the RPMs necessary to hit 60 mph.

Dude, I have Byron 30% fuel, a cold plug, a perfect tune, and a pipe that is a match made in heaven for my pipe. I promise to you that I measured out EXACTLY 100 feet and did over 10 time trials averaged those and then put them into the calculator on Misbehavin which is correct. How can you not beleive scientific precise results?

One of the Mag reviews clocked the 8ight RTR at 47 mph using a radar gun. I cannot remember which mag it was. This sounds more realistic to me than 60mph. Might want to check over your math again.

Default 8ight RTR

I have an 8ight RTR. I also run 30% byrons here (on the 427) and have run about 1/2 - 3/4 gallon of fuel through it so far. With everything stock (besides the four shoe clutch), using a Stalker Police issue KA radar band, my 8ight hit a top speed of 46 mph. I did multiple trials with different high speed settings on smooth concrete. You must have a great tail wind pushing you up to 57 mph.

Did you have the 16t clutch bell on it? I've thought that being geared that high might push this thing well over 50. But I think ALL torque is lost. IMO.

why would you use 100 feet? 60mph is 88 feet per second

100 feet is used to get a relatively clean equation for the spped trap. and no its stock gearing other than diff oil. I am of to bed and will answer and messages tomorrow, night all!

Agreed. MAYBE 60 with 20-22 tooth bell, but still unlikely due to RPM restrictions of the engine.
