Unhappy Spek Pro + Futaba 3PK = Servo Killer?!

Hi there,

I've had my Spektrum Pro series module and reciever for a little over a year now, and Ive had nothing but good things with it. I recently switched from a Hitec Agressor to a Futaba 3PK, cause they are compatible and I love the 3PK system.

My Airtronics 94358 throttle servo recently died after 2 solid years of hard use, so I recently bought a HSC-5996 servo for my throttle, and was blown away and absolutely happy with the performance. Until yesterday.

When I went to practice at the local club race the other day, the car ran great until a few minutes in my throttle reponse died off, then stopped completely.

When I brought the car in for a look, the servo showed signs that it wa fried. It wouldn't move when I told it to, and when it did it would only move one way, then back... then hold or freeze in place.

The servo was under a week old, and had only seen maybe an hour total of running time.

So Saturday night, I placed ANOTHER HSC-5996 in my throttle place and then went out to the club race this Sunday. After a few mins of practice, the servo died AGAIN. Completely different servo, this one a little older by a month and it showed the SAME symptoms of a fried servo.

I checked the throttle servo in the steering output on my reciever, and it didnt work. I checked my steering servo in my throttle output and it worked just fine.

So I thought it was my reciever frying 2 very expensive servos, so I replaced the reciever with a non-pro series spektrum module, replaced the throttle servo with a HS-645 and proceeded to race that day.

I got through a 5 min qualifier, and about 10 minutes through the main when my steering went nuts on the straight and I crashed into the bushes. I went to start after I had been marshaled and I had no steering at all. I got the car to the pits, and no reponse AT ALL from the steering servo. Throttle servo still worked, so Im quite puzzled.

Like I said, I have a Futaba 3PK on a Spektrum Pro Series module and reciever, and its NOT on HRS mode.

Im absolutely stumped, and this setup has ruined 2 Aitronics 94358's and 2 HSC-5996's. Needless to say, this is getting pricy to keep replacing

Any help would be great, Im stuck and have no idea what it could be.

That is an issue I would take directly to Spektrum Support.
