Default Insane CRT.5 engine choice.

Well I going to get a crt.5 here in the next couple weeks. I dont really plan on racing it any at my local track as I am mostly into 1/8 scale onroad. This little tike will be more for just having good clean old bashing fun at my local track and around my casa. Heres what I want to do, and perhaps you can all give me some suggestions. I want to make this thing stupid fast. I want to hardly be able to keep the front tires down from a dead stop and hit top speeds of mid 40s to 50mph on concrete. The only .12 engine I have experience with is the Novarossi +12-3ct that I ran in my touring car. That engine was ungodly fast and great all around.

Is it a good idea to run higher end, high rpm onroad engines like that in a 1/12 scale offroad? Should I just stick to something like a Modded OS 18TZ?

So anyways heres some engines I have been looking over for my little project of insanity. Which of these engines would you pick? Perhaps there is one I didn't list??

Novarossi Plus12-3CT
OS Murnan Modded 18TZ
Murnan Modified RB Matrix .12
Murnan Modified OSTZ12
Murnan Modified JLR Red Dot
Novarossi .12 NSR12S5

These are all within my $350 price range. Keep in mind I am not concerned about fuel consumption. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Stupid fast? 18TZ all the way. I actually want to sell mine because it is just way too fast. It is also the cheapest.

hell a stock 18tz would make it be stupid fast. the tz i had on my ole revo would make it do wheelies at command and hit 60+ mph for sure. and the revo is a bit heavier than the crt 5

You can race the CRT .5 with any motor you want. I have a $100.00 STS .12ex in my CRT.5 an it is plan out crazy. I pull full size buggy on the straight It doesn't take much to get the little fella going

on that list i would go with the red dot...there is more pride on kicking 1/8 butt with a .12 than a .18....

we have about 6-10 crts every friday night at our track. i have noticed which ever engine anybody runs at 1/2--3/4 down the straight(90ft) the gearing takes over and all of the trucks are dead even. we have almost every possible engine in theese trucks and i dont see a huge difference in any of them. the stock motor seems to be as fast as my rb with longer run time. to me the sirio evo seems to be the quickest, nobody has an .18 in theirs yet only .12s . for the money os tz seems a good choice. most modded engines are modded for fuel economy and smootheness not power.

hope this helps

joe

the one i seen run on the oval last week was stupid fast as it was...it was racing against 1/8 scale nitros and if the driver could hang on it could almost get a whole straight lead per lap lol

Should give you some idea what to expect from your project.
