I'm sure the I-Lap is a fine system, in fact I'd like to some testing with it.

The thing I'd be scared of is it's infrared and needs "line of sight" for it to function. In the case of off-road dirt could cover it and in nitro on-road tire dust could be an issue.

Dirt and tire dust not a issue with the I-LAP transponders, they even will pick up thru some painted bodies w/stickers .
Check out Golden hill raceway ,they tested with dirt and mud on the body ,then on the I-LAP transponder themselves.NO issues, picked up everytime.

Give the I-lap system a chance to get out there.AMB has had about a 20 year head start. Now that there is another choice and for much less money ,i think more tracks that don't have a lap counter will take a look at I-LAP .

I-LAP may not be used at large events, atleast not yet!!!It may happen .
GIVE IT a chance!

And we all know that the die hard racer WILL buy the I-LAP transponder if they race at a track that uses it,even if they have the AMB.
