You see the AE starter box has 2 slots one going from front to back for gas truck, and touring car. and another slot going from left to right. you have to unscrew the screws holding the motor mounts and flywheel mount. turn the whole assembly mount sideways and screw it back in. your gonna have to take the flywheel mount, and unscrew the cover over the bearing and pop the bearing out, switch sides pop the bearing back in and screw the bearing cover on the opposite side that it was on.

You have to take the flywheel off before you screw the motor mount down. Then you slide the center shaft in the fly wheel out a bit, wrap the belt around the pulley, slide the flywheel into place, push the center shaft into the appropriate hole on the motor mount. put the flywheel mount on the other side of the shaft and screw it down to the box.

There are instructions with the box when you buy it. it should tell you the same thing.

I use it on my 8ight and I haven't had a problem yet. Use a Gel cell battery also, much more reliable and lasts 10 times longer.

I hope that wasn't too confusing! So don't get rid of it because it works just fine!!!

also, after I assembled my associated box properly, I took an exacto knife and beveled the edges of the rubber flywheel wheel while it was running. That's so it doesn't rub on the chassis. looks professional like a lathe trimmed it down!

OK. The problem with a dedicated box is that it will only work well with one (or two in this case) vehicles.

My 1/10 OFNA box has been used on five different chassis, my 1/8 OFNA box has been used on four. All I had to do was position the pegs, not a very difficult task to do.

I did get another box for my truggy because I race buggy and truggy, however, I got a Himoto box for $30 which is very similar to the AE box and is very light (even with a 12V).

http://www.ofna.com/start-box.html

The one I use is part# 10244 (bottom of the page). I assume that is the blue 1/8 box everyone is talking about.
