you can run 30% in most all engines, but some may need to be shimmed for 30%, but in 1/10 gas truck running 30% may cause some control issues being 2wd is a handful running 20%....

i dont think the engine will be shimmed for 30%, but its your engine so i say go for it....1/10 4wd should be ok when it comes to the handling, but now its the engine im worried about...

I run 30% in my .12's but I check the shimming first. I think out of 2 novas, 1 cv-r, and a peak engine they were all ok except the cv-r which I added one shim to.
As far as a power difference it doesn't seem to change that much that I noticed. Just have to tune the engine how you want it to run like normal.

If you're worried about the engine just run it once and make sure you tune it nicely. When you are done running it take the head off. If the head button and piston top look like they have been sand blasted a bit then you need another shim. Or you can take a piece of solder and bend an 1/8" L on the end of it. Put it down the glow plug hole so it runs in line with the crankshaft, then rotate the piston one full revolution with the flywheel so the piston pinches the solder. Then pull the solder out and measure it with calipers. Add shims until it's .030" or just a bit under.
