A.C.,

Go here and read up (Use the search functionality):

http://ofna.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=6

Ton's of threads on the Hyper 8.5 with setup information...

You'll want to perform the first two mods on here right away: http://nitrohouse.com/Tech_Tips_for_the_Hyper8.htm... You'll want to do the wing mod (One of the two mods) before you even run the buggy. If you only did one mod, this, by far, is the one you need to do.

Other than that, enjoy your Hyper 8.5!

BTW ~ www.nitrohouse.com usually has the best prices on Hyper 8.5s. Call them, ask for Rob, and order your kit. Should be around $420 ish shipped. Rob is also has a wealth of knowledge on the kit, and he can answer any question you may have, as well as provide solid setup advice!

My 8.5 showed up yesterday, this car is sweet, its much better then the original car and for the same price. There isn't anything that comes close in bang for the buck.

Russ,

Have you driven it yet?

I cannot wait to hear what you think about it vs. the old Hyper 8 you drove...

The new chassis makes so much of a difference, it is hard to believe!

I am gonna try and get it out this weekend, but I have a busy work schedule this week, So far I have had the chance to make sure the front end was set for my base, re oil the rear diff, do the rear shock tower camber mod. I still have to build the shocks install my radio equipment and engine and put my racers fiber rotors on. I am trying to start with a similar setup to what i used to run.

The car is definately nice

I asked this on the 8ight thread so just thought I would ask here as well regarding the 8.5 RTRs.

What are the major differences between the Kit and RTR versions of this car. Besides the stock radio tx/rx. Any info on the servos, chassis, etc.

Thanks.

hey guys,

i am currently driving a Jammin X1-CR, and i have to say that i like it. i've had it for a little over 3 years, and i have wheeled it to several podium finishes. however, it was the original version (Pro not FTE) and i feel that it is a little out dated. granted, i have upgraded to all the newest specs and am constantly looking for things to upgrade, but it's lost its mojo. i find that it is numb to suspension adjustments, and does not provide the aggressiveness i look for in a buggy. so, i am considering selling it as a roller and going to another buggy. i'd like to stay under the Ofna roof, since i really like the parts support/prices/durability of their models. i have been eyeing the 8.5 for some time now, and it is starting to really interest me. can anybody give me a short list of pros and cons for this buggy? thanks a lot.

Pros:

Durability
Parts are cheap online and widely available (Ebay, Nitrohouse.com, etc...)
One of the best jumpers
Great handling on any track condition - Highly adjustable
Lots of Hopups and they're relatively inexpensive compared to other brands
New 8.5 has all the good hopups included
It competes successfully at the highest levels of RC racing all over the world and in the US...

Cons:

Factory support (Setup info and general information) isn't as strong as other manufacturers, but user community support is good on OFNA forums and at local tracks...
US Factory Race Program could be bigger...
