it seems like the axial and LRP .28 spec3 are the top choices but I heard that the LRP .28 spec3 is a little hard to tune. can anyone confirm or deny this statement.. btw thanks to all of the responses, they're much appreciated..

I tuned a Go Tech .21 last week and I had never heard of one or seen it but I'll tell you what that motor was temping 189 on my exergen and it was screaming.

I was going to lean it out a bit more but my friend is a newbie and it was his first race and I didn't want to give him anymore power. I think it was already to much power for him.

Two thumbs up for the Go Tech .21

By the way I use JP Modifieds and OS Speeds

Another vote for Go Tech.

I've got a 5 port on a CEN buggy and it's already too fast for me and is still not fully broken in yet. It's damn near a direct knockoff of the novarossi P5 but with much better sleeve porting. Slap an 086 pipe on the thing and it's money in the bank. It's got more than enough power to make a truggy do stupid pet tricks.

I realize $219 (shipped from TKO) is a little over your pal's budget of $200, but it would be well worth skipping lunch a couple of days to get one.

I recommend the Axe Rossi Mamba. This motor has the quality and longevity of the italian motors but cost 199.00. It is a 7 port motor so it is no slouch in the power department either.

That is true and even more impressive for the $$$ spent is the Axe Rossi Sport which is also a 7 port and has wicked torque.
The sport is defiantely best value for money and a plus is its a italian engine.
