I hate to tell someone to go electric when gas is on the horizon. Maybe ask for the E-savage or E-maxx. Uggh. Did I just say that? I use my Revo at home to take up the time between my kids, work, repairs, working for ex-girlfriends, and racing. I race 3-4 hours each week. Fri, sat, sun. Sometimes I can practice on Thurs. also. The fuel seems cheap compared to all the broken parts. lol.

u can run 35-45mins on 1 lipo 2s2p 8000mah maxxamps pack...
and if u get a Mamba Max 5700/6900kv system , u will be as fast as the gas trucks, find a used RC10T3 OR RC10T4 OR LOSI XXXT on ebay,(a lot of them are almost new too And 1/2 the price of a new one)....
So if i were u id get a electric Truck, a brushless motor/esc system, an a 2s2p 8000mah maxxamps lipo battery..... youll have lots of fun an drive 40mins on one charge up.....an u can race in both electric an gas truck classes, just ask ur closest rc track.....
anyway just go with a electric 1/10th scale truck, a brushless system,an lipo battery.... ull have alot more fun and u dont need to buy gas every month, plus ull be just as fast as a gas truck and u can gear it to go way faster then a gas truck
GO WITH A XXXT/RC10T3/RC10T4 A MAMBA MAX BRUSHLESS SYSTEM AND A 7.4V 2S2P 8000MAH MAXXAMPS LIPO BATTERY!!!!

May I suggest staying with offroad. Those little on road cars break too easy in my hands. Especially if you are tearing up and down the street. Hook one little pebble and you wreck. they are spectacular wrecks though. Plus there is limited places you can go. Seems like the off-road stuff is built to wreck. having a powerful electric truck would let you go anywhere nitro could go. Plus you can own the porsche too because your mom isn't buying parts every time you run the on-road. Or buying the nitro fuel.

Rc fuel prices haven't gone up like fuel for normal cars has. I spend about $23.99 for one gallon of Byron's 30% Nitro fuel, and that lasts me about 3 weeks.
Here in Nebraska, at $3.29 a gallon for pump gas, it cost me $60 dollars to fill my tank, and that only lasts me one week. Multiply that times 3 and i'm paying $180 bucks for 3 weeks worth of gas, and my nitro car is still only costing me 23.99 for 3 weeks worth of use.

Agreed. The price of nitro fuel is minimal. Had to put $94 into my truck a few days ago. $3.27. Anyone want to buy a big ass truck? lol. JK. I love my truck. Anyways, you could also buy smaller portions of the nitro. Ask for quarts, instead of gallons. Then mom will realize that buying a gallon a month is no big deal.
