Ready To Run
At what point does a ready to run truck become illegal?
RTR 1/10 scale trucks w/ .15 are permitted to race with other 1/10 scale non RTR w/ .12 trucks.
But how many modifications can be made to the RTR before it becomes illegal.
Threaded shocks ?
Graffite arms & shock towers ?
Radio upgraded ?
Tierods & Ballcups replaced ?
Removal of EZ Start systems?
Boost Bottle?
Pipe?
Just wandering

So according to Jason...
I could mount a .15 motor into anything. Call it a RTR and be legal.
BTW that was sarcasim
There must be some point that a RTR truck is Not legal.

Most rules are pretty open. check out roar's website. They have all the dimensions of what is legal. Weight, width, height, tire size, engine size. As long as any vehicle is within those requirements on their list, anything IS legal. You could make your own chassis, braces, suspension etc. just so long as you meet the rules.

If you're asking questions about legality of anything I'm inclined to believe that you're not a good enough racer to even worry about it. I don't mean to be harsh, but, truth be told, until you can give the pros a run for their money they really don't care what you're running.

LOSI stamped RTR on every part for a reason.
Just trying to figure out why.

The areas I visit for club racing don't mind the slower people running illegal. And if a good driver has a problem and improvises, but ends up illegal they don't mind. But if they are cheating just to try to be faster they'll be asked to change.
If someone were at the pro races (something above the club level) then they would need to meet the regulations to pass tech. If you are just starting out and don't go to major races, don't worry about being legal. Now, I know some places have large turnouts and they might expect you to be with the rules. For the most part, just get to the track and race. You will learn the ways soon enough. Good luck and enjoy.
