Should I get a .21 or .28 RB Concepts engine?
Hey guys, I'm running a RB TM728 in my Jammin CRT. The thing is a beast, but it does not have top end speed without over gearing the thing. I was looking at the TM 928 as a replacement, but I'm not sure about the top end or the torque. I have a S7 in my buggy, but I'm not sure about dropping in a .21? I like the grunt of the .28 but I want the snap of the .21. Mind you, I do have a budget of $350. Any opinions/ideas would be appreciated.

I race a MbX5T and have ran the 928 and am currently running the C6BB with 7mm restrictor and turbo plug. I like the C6 the best. I run the exact same set up in my MBX5R and wouldn't change a thing. Great low and top end.

I have to add a new twist to my quest. I just saw the MR Ninja.28. Anybody have the story on that motor?

If you want to run big motors in a truggy, have you considered the Sportworks motors like the .26 V2? It is a smoking motor that will give you all you need and then some. At $140, after you install the back plate, they allow you to have 2 motors for the price of one. Send one off to have it tweaked a little and you will be stunned to the performance.
We are seeing 11 min run times and 7 - 9 gallons consistantly. We stocked up on parts for these motors because we thought so highly of them. THe true testament... 1 1/2 years and we have not sold any of the parts besides the back plates.

I would go with the RB motor before the MR.
For the 5 port we have been running Odonell plugs. Purple sport plug and the OD99.
We run Rocket Science as well.
Run the Sport plug in humid weather and the OD99 when it is dryer. The sport plug is a little hotter so the engine will idle better.

When you think buggy, you should right away think of a .21 to put into it. With a $350 budget, you can get a real nice .21 with great bottom end, and will scream at the high end.
When you think truggy, then you can start to throw .21 and .28 ideas around. You generally need a nice .21 to push a truggy around, for the low end grunt and high end speed. Also with the .21, you will get great gas mileage when compared to a .28
My favourite buggy engine at the moment is the Werks Team Line B3 and B7's
If you go the .28 way, you generally sacrifice top end for more low end torque, but lose top end and fuel economy. You can also run a cheaper .28 in a truggy, like an Axial .28 A great .21 engine for a truggy would be an O.S. V-Spec or Werks Team Line B7.

I have a buggy with a RB S7. I love the thing. The reason why I am asking everybody for their opinion is because I'm seeing that 50% of the guys that race truggy use a .28 . I see many .21s' out there and they do fly!! One the other hand, at my track, they spray and the traction goes up 100%! The guys that run .21's burn up plugs as they are pulling hard. I've been running a 28 for almost two years. The only problem that I have is getting the top end. Mind you I was running a RB TM728 originaly designed for a Savage/MGT.
A couple of friends have the C6BB and that thing is a beast!! As with all of us here, we want an edge over the next guy; hence the 928 or the MR Ninja .28.
I chose these two companies because I am a on road guy that just happens to love my truggy! I run Novarossi and RB in my on-road cars. I know they are expensive, but in my opinion nothing runs as strong as the NR or Novarossi based engine. I know that OS are beast!! God knows that they are out there putting it down, but I am a Novarossi driver.

Do not get the .28, from what I've seen they don't last very long, you lose tons of fuel mileage, and don't gain much speed. The C6 and WS7III are both great truggy engines, you should be OK with either one.
