Default V-Spec questions... (how to tell if it is the newer motor)

Hey guy's,

Was wondering how to tell if a Vspec is the newer model? Anything change in the letters, or how can I tell. A Main has it listed as O.S. Max 21VZ-B V-Spec-T (P). Can I tell anything by this?

Thanks
Dave

The P means it has the Pilot shaft. If you are referring to the "newer" version as the one with the magnesium head it is the OS SPEED as opposed to the OS MAX.

No, I was not referring to the speed engine either. I ordered one so I will see what I get when it gets here I guess .

Thanks
Dave

The "T" is the newest non mod version. "P" refers to the pilot or SG shaft.

Kind of hard to explain so I'll do my best. I think he means is it a 06 or 07 model. The only way I can tell is by looking at the bottom of the crank case. If the screw tunnels run all the way up to the other side of the case its a 07. If they stop half way its a 06 version. Only difference is I believe the the 07 has the updated bearings

Tony, that was exactly what I was looking for as far as the 06 and 07 models, however, is the (T) what indicates the 07 model?

Thanks
Dave

OK thanks. Just cause I am curious, can anyone post a picture of the newer crank case? I have found alot of pictures of what I think is the 06 model crank case, but I can't find any pictures of V-Spec with the screw holes running all the way to the front of engine.

Thanks
Dave

Ha ha I know I just said "Grab my Box". and I don't see any "T" or "P" I know it does say 13890 above the bar code on the circular sticker that says Max 21VZB V-spec. I hope it's a revised one with the good bearings.

The "07" V-Specs have a 9 ball rear crank bearing vs. the 8 ball bearing in the "06" V-Specs. That and the updated crankcase are the only two differences in the engines as far as I know.

If you buy a new V-Spec from any shop that regularly sells engines (like A-Main Hobbies) then you'll get the "07" V-Spec since they've been available for a while now.
