i have had this problem before too. the bearing is getting gummed up with oil from the fuel. i have changed to odonnell fuel and have not had this problem anymore. it may not be fixxed because of the fuel change but it hasnt happened since. you should be able to just clean the old bearing with nitro spray also.

Default Easy Fix

I have the same problem when ever I use after run oil in the motor through the carb. Lately I've just been using wd40 for after run.

Now you've made me think that you can use after run oil through the glow plug hole for the cylinder and piston and wd40 through the carb for the crankcase.

The easy Fix:
Before you fuel up and attempt to start the Muggy do the following:

Remove the air filter and rubber elbow
Tip the Muggy up at about a 45 degree angle (front of the Muggy up)
Make sure the carb slide is closed
Fill the carb with fuel, then manually open the carb and let the fuel drain into the crankcase ( do this twice)
Let it sit for five minuets
The spin start should work fine for the rest of the day

My guess is the after run oil is somehow causing the spin start to gum up.

Just this past week end I used after run oil (been using wd40 for the last two months) on Saturday and then guess what Sunday morning the spin start wouldn't turn over the motor.
I did the fuel trick and the spin started worked just fine.

Good Luck
