OK!!
I'll try to dremel the holes a bit and maybe the engine mounts so that there isn't any chance of touching the center rear shaft.
Another thing is that when looked from the bottom the cutting for the engine mount screws to sit in the chassis isn't made with 90 degree straight edges.
The edges around that area are round and i'm afraid that the screws for the mounts won't sit flat with the chassis if screwed very close to that edge.

I'm a bit confused my self with this right up...!!!

Anyway i also want to ask about diff setup.
I tried some 10/10/3 and the car had a bit of a push on high speed turns but it was controllable.
Although on the exits of slow turns the rear would come around very easily and spin out.
I think i'll go to Mugen setup with 5/7/1 and see how it goes.

Chris

10-10-3 is too stiff. We've run 3-5-1, 5-5-3 and 5-7-3 (for STR8). I'd not go much under 3k in rear but ofcourse that's dependent on the track and driving style. I prefer the 5-7-3. What shock setup you have ? Are you running the red springs and the stock 2x1.5mm pistons ? Also how about the shock locations ? Try to put rear shocks on upper row & in on tower to tie the rear end a bit.

Do you own a STR8?
I run this exact setup with added -1 degree camber all around and 23 degrees front caster.(haven't tried the aluminum hub which is 25 degrees)
With red springs(i already got the reckward hard springs because i had rubbing on the bottom shock cap) and the double cap BB shocks.(which by the way are terrible...don't work smoothly at all)

Yes or actually we distribute them. We've driven both the Factory and RTR.

From the standard setup I've changed the diffs as explained earlier, then I have

Front
Al caster block & outer position on upright (with std. you can't go outer position w/o mod + need the modified lower arm)
shock middle hole on arm, in on tower (you can also try 2nd hole from in)
2x1.5mm with 45WT

Rear is currently same as the setupsheet.

Regarding the shocks I found them working nice. I used green slime when I built them. There are few issues you need to check. Tightening the lower cap is one. You need to be carefull not to over tighten the cap as it could bend the plate a bit which is enough to bind the shaft. Also you need to check that the plastic plate inside the shock holding the orings has no brusts and seats properly. Manual proposes to use thread lock which is OK as you do not need to make the cap tight, you just turn it untill you feel the plate it touches the shock body and then turn 1/4 MAX. The thread lock will hold the cap in place and the shock is oil tight. You shoud use one that is easy to open though as you need to change the o-rings in some point anyway. The seating of the plate is easy to check as when it levelled correctly the piston is exactly in the middle of the body. These are for sure not the most easiest to build but when done correctly they work nice.

Regarding the springs I found no rubbing with the BB and red springs. I found the red to be a slightly too firm for my taste but shoud work OK

For the shocks i used teflon white tape instead of thread lock...it should seal better and still hold the cap on.
What did you do for the engine mounts and position on the chassis.
The engine can not be pushed far enough to set the mesh when using the 13TCB.

Well I have mail directly from Caster saying they are Basic platform is the same even they are not 1:1. For sure the pivot ball makes the car behave differently and another thing is that there might be some other geometry differences (in addition to different shock towers and shocks) as well that we can't see by just looking at the pictures. But again what if they are "same" does it make Caster any worse ? Not in my opinion.

If you feel we should not be in this thread then maybe we need to make our own after all

i dont think it was meant to be THAT way, but with the liknesses being hard to see, its a tough comparison, you know what i mean? IMO i dont see a problem with asking some questions, but lets not turn this into a thread for both the caster and the hobbytech, lol! kinda takes away from us Caster guys, know what i mean? LOL!

hi guys, no offense.....everything is cool....!!!

its cool that you talk about it, just saying the truth,

as i think each brand have its own style and design,,,,,,

beucause i have test both cars, they are okay, and nice ,

and differnt character for the car,

that's why i said they are different and we respect both of the company.

well, i think its cool you menton the car here...i guess is cool, but it will much better if you start with a new forum thread, and

starts there, and we can respect everyone's hard working, dont' you thinkso
