my VG seems to run the best around 250. ran a 10 minute main, then bumped up to the next main with 2 minutes to fuel up and ran another 15 minutes at 250 without a problem

I was running yesterday, and around the 3 minute mark of the heat, it felt like the motor richened up and cut off after a jump. Bad plug?? We tried to restart it, but it sounded like it was running out of fuel???

R40, how much did the temp's drop?
Sorry it took so long to answer you, I hadn't checked back on this thread in a while. It dropped the temps about 20 degrees, pretty impressive.

check the carb, mine did the same thing and it ended up being a air leak in the carb, changed the carb, problem was gone

I just ordered a OS VG HOT MOD from A-Main this morning. Hoping to achieve some good power, but not over kill like my OS Speed is. Would also like to see 10 minutes to a tank. Think that is possible? I still want to run fast, but I am pretty conservitive on the throttle.

I have a RB mod's VG in my Losi 8 and get 11 minutes easy. I also had to go up a tooth on the clutch bell cause there's so much bottom end. I need to switch from my Jp-3 pipe to a Jp-2 though. Im sure you will love the new motor!! Good luck with it!!

11 minutes would be cool. I was thinking of my OS 2060 pipe, but I have a JP-3 that I will try back-to-back once its going. So you running a 14T bell? Have you tried a 47T spur?

What kind of life span are you guy's getting from the VG? is this with aftermarket cooling head's or stock? Im praying it's really not a 2 gallon motor....I love mine.

I don't think these motors last long. I got one used, installed new Boca bearings, new piston/sleeve, rod, pins & clips. Broke it in on rich setting (fuel rich throttle limited) used only half throttle for 5 tanks (230 average temps), now its been run in the car and tuned for good response while still rich. These motor do not like hot weather & humidity. SoFla weather is killing this thing. Very hard to keep temps under 250 without too rich boggy throttle. Running O'Donnells fuel 20%. Saw upwards of 308 today before shutting it down. Motor seem to lean out when getting hot. Also is mushy in the bottorm end torque area. Will be installing a 13 tooth bell and low end pipe. Mid pipe is OK, but everybody else on the track is killing this motor at local track. I also was told by local guys at track these motor don't last long. Next motor will be back to a Picco/Nova motor. Plus I see way too many used OS motors needing rebuilds or bearings in FS forums.
