I saw this posted on http://www.rcmtracer.com/index.php

Torrance Deguzman; of the Associated's Reaseach & Development team posted this about the forthcoming RC8 buggy.

"Now that the cat's out of the bag, i'll confirm some details. it uses Thunder Tiger diffs from the ST-1 truggy (not the S3). They work perfectly so we figured we'd use them to save some tooling costs, savings which gets passed on to the customer. other TT parts used are just some small items like throttle/brake linkages, EVERYTHING else is all new, all AE.
Drivetrain layout is the time proven design. no, the engine won't sit right on the centerline of the chassis but the important thing is that the center of gravity does which is what matters most. who cares if the engine is in the middle but pushes the CG off to the side. the suspension uses c-hubs with upper and lower arms up front.
The body and wing is different from what's out on the market, but not bizarre looking like some that i've seen. the thing sits really low.
lastly, it's metric.

no, we didn't re-invent the wheel, we just optimize it - AE style."

just bought my 8ight and have been reading nearly every page on this thread. this is my first 1/8 car, just wondering if someone who has been posting on this thread can give me the run down of all of the build tips and hopefully some setup suggestions. i'm a little confused on where people are suggesting putting loctite and also some different throttle setups. my first question is do i build the diffs with the factory weight oils, or do i go with different stuff?

i'm sure i will have tons of questions, so please help me who ever can, this is again my first nitro car, been racing for 19 years now, and have never done nitro, have raced 1/4 scale for awhile now, so i'm going through a major change

thanks again

Default Throttle Ball cup change

Got my Losi 8ight kit and it looks like they have changed the ball cup
to one that is shorter.

Don't know if the RTR have them yet. Bought my kit from Amain hobbies
about 2 weeks ago.
Maybe Supermaxx will know about the RTRs...

Default New throttle linkage

Just finished setting up the throttle/ brake on my 8ight.
The new ball cup works well without having to cut spring..

12pac,

Cool that the new one works well!

Just an FYI, make sure your carb collar is at least 3mm or further from the top of the diff plate. You may need to file the diff plate a little to gain more clearance. Your carb looks very strait (Thats Good!) but from that picture the carb looks like it 1.5 mm from the diff plate. Kinda hard to tell from the picture.

I filed probably 1-1.5mm off mine..

For the most part just replace the o-rings as often as you can...... new o-rings made of new material are on the way from losi.

Here's my first real attempt to a paint job. Not bad for someone with no creativity.

Anyway's, I am loving the car.

At or local track I dont think anyone has had an issue yet. My Shocks came with orange o-rings and I have few of the new packs of black o-rings. Now I hear the latest is going to be white..? All I can say is the obvious, Check your shafts and make sure they are straight, use green slim when you rebuild them, dont build them with a bunch of presure and make sure you use a small party ballon as a dust cover instead of the inadequate ones that come with the kit.

I used Associated's Green Slime. So far it's been working! No leaks.

Also be very carefull inserting the shock shaft through the o-rings when you are assembling them. Put a generous dose of shock oil on the o-rings and the shaft. It is pretty easy to cut the o-rings with the sharp threads as you insert the shaft. That would definately compromise the seal.

I tried the green slim on my O rings just like I have always done in the past with other kits. They still leaked with my Black Orings.

I just ordered the TKO Losi O rings, I was told they are slightly larger.
