What are the best motors to put in the Losi box? I'd heard the motors that come in it are junk... and its true. Smoked 'em on the first day with the box.

DC - quit hem hawing and come to Huntington. I guarantee it'll be good times.. BSing, messing up Clarks pit space, heck I'll prolly even flip you off a few times for no good reason.

I was gonna upgrade the motors but I don't know what the specs are on the motor pinions. Are they a 48p or 32p? Or are they Metric 1.0p? Knowing my luck I would start tearing it down and then get stuck. LOL. The pinions looked to be pressed on but I didn't try too hard to get them off. I'd mess the plastic pinions up or something. Anyways I know they will go out one day so I need some info.

Dang DC... you are more flakey than a leper colony.

Air8 - I was gonna pull the existing pinions and use them on the new motors. I know thy fit a 3mm shaft. I'm considering these motors....

LOL. The drummer from Def Lepoard's only got one arm! Good song.

I need to find out what the pitch of the pinions are so they line up with the belts.

why not just reuse the ones off the stock motors, if the pinions look like the ones that they sell on amain they have a brass center with the plastic gears

I have been running 55's all around with 40wt in the front and 35wt in the rear to stiffen up the front just a little. today I just went to 54's in the rear (bigger holes) and 56's in the front (smaller holes) and am undecided on oil wt so far. Anyone have some advice on this new set up?

I went to 54 pistons in the rear a couple of weeks ago (our track is getting real rough) in order to absorb the bumps better. I found that there was not enough rebound dampening and an the back end started to spring off of every bump. I kept going thicker & thicker on the rear oil and it did not settle the rear down until I got to 55 wt oil and the silver spring, so I went back to the 55 piston & 32.5 oil.

Thumbs up

Mike,
That is exactly what I found in the rear of my car. I moved from the 54s to 55s and it helped but the car would still hit and I needed excessive oil weight in the rear. I started looking at setups and found if I took 56 pistons and drilled three holes out to 55 then the oil would work correctly and keep the car nice and stable with 40 wt. Sometimes I run 35 and sometimes I run 45. It just depends. I do not change pistons any more.
Green springs.

The 40 wt happened to be what I was running in the front so I just keep it that way. I think they are 55s with 40wt and green springs.

The guys at my LHS build tracks where you jump a big jump and then have to land flat. It is retarded but that is what I have to deal with for the rear of my car. It work surprisingly well everywhere.

Yup, I have to deal with that at my local club track...well I did. Recently I am just too frustrated with the club so instead of driving 30min to our local track, I will drive 3.5 hrs to Revelation instead. I would rather spend my money where I have fun and not have to listen to silly ideas why our club can not build a good track. They just need to let us guys that actually travel to other tracks design it rather than give us an excuse. Shoot, some of us even went so far as to share pics with them of other tracks so that the guys in charge of track building can get an idea of what a landing should be like! Haha, they told us they cant tell anything from the pics.... Out of the 10-15 that race, about 5 now decide to travel elsewhere...
