Using a file to file down the drive wheel on the starter would be easier IMO. Just press the file against the starter wheel while it is spinning till it is the correct thickness. Easy as pie or should I say cookies.

i have a question about clutch bearings. is it just the big bearing that always goes or is it both the big and small bearings? and one last question what are the sizes of the bearings?

Losi sells them cheaply as a set. losipartshouse is a great place to get them.

I've got 3 gallons so far on one set of ceramic bearings from TKO. At $4.95 for each bearing I think they're worth it. I have not run the stock Losi clutch bearings so I don't really have a comparison.

Well I got this motor today
And man it is very nice I am running it with a sportwerks 053 hard anodized pipe. I did 5 tanks of ideling. I had to do the ideling method because I do not have the front hubs or cvds on so I could not putt it around. On the third and 4th tank I sarted to rev it a little more and then on the fifth tank I reved it even a little more. On all the tanks it stayed around 180-200 degrese so I am good. What I did notice was this black looking stuff that came out of the pipe. I made sure it was not metal shavings, it was more like dirt looking but it was not dirt. Would anybody know what this is. Thanks guys.

180-200 degrees?!!!! You're destroying that motor! That's too cold. 210-230 is where you should be. That poor connecting rod...

During break in???? 210-230 man every where I read it is keep it at the 200 mark or a little below. I have done this break in method with 3 other motors and they run strong and last along time. So 180-200 is a good temperature. Plus where I live it was 70 degrese out today and humid so that is why i kept it at 180-200 degrese. I am not killing my motor I know what I am doing, All the guys at my lhs do this same method to there motors and there motors run strong.

Breaking in an engine without it being under a load will cause excessive wear (I know, this can be debated). I hope you're just refering to the oil being dark that is coming from you pipe, it should be some what darker, but not black. Too much fiction, especially on aluminum parts, without proper lubrication will cause the parts to wear much quicker which is evident by the darker oil.

On my monster truck, I tape the tires with duct tape or packing fiber tape. I have never had buggy tires before... Do you tape them also?? These tires have ribs on the inside, does that affect anything?
