Most of the 1/8 guys will be running 4cell but in our 1/8 class its open to basicly whatever 1/8 electronics you want. Even 5 and 6 cell. You probably not get enough traction or speed on our track to need anything more than a 4cell but feel free to run whatever you would like.

Thanks for the info. I should probably think about a 2s the way I drive most of the time. So if you go 4s, what size motor should you go with? It seems to me the higher the S rating the lower the KV rating. My son has a 2s battery and a 3900kv motor. I'm an old gas guy so I don't know. I do love the plug it in and go race part. That is awesome! Thanks for any help.

I have seen some 1/8 buggy run on a 550 motor. Not that it was the greatest but it dose work. It might not be to bad on our track either since its a smaller track. The best motor to get would be a 1/8 scale motor. They have all the torque that you would need. On our track a 1700kv 1/8 motor would work just fine but some of us are over powered. I am running a 2100kv and its overkill. The 1/8 motors don't run very well with a 2 cell but a 3 cell dose work OK if your looking to tame a 1/8 buggy down. There is a big difference in the 1/8 ESC and motor com paired to a 1/10 ESC and motor so make sure your getting 1/8 electronics and not 1/10.

I'm running a Tekin T8 1900kv on 4s, and it's plenty fast.

Tekin recommends LiPo batteries with at least a 40C discharge rate for 1:8 applications.

Thanks for all the help. I'll keep all this in mind when ordering. How many were in the 1/8 class last year?

Dose anyone have a old 1/8 wing they would give up for a couple bucks or free is always best. I am working on a project for the 1/8 class

Scott you need to quit saying you will buy a 1/8 if Tim runs and JUST BUY ONE!
Tim you NEED to dust yours off and show us all how 1/8 should be run.

I am comitting to running 1/8. There I said it now you 2 need to follow.

Default New to the hobby

Hello, I just got into this hobby about a year ago and am looking into racing rc's. We don't have any local races or anything around North Platte that I'm aware of tho we do have some tracks here. I am mainly into bashing and goofing around with the slashes at the moment. I do have a road car and a couple of boats as well. Any info will be appreciated.
