Default '11 HobbyPLEX TCS Race - February 19th & 20th

The schedule and the rules have been finalized so it's time to start thinking about TCS, only two months away!!

You can check out all the info here TCS. I'll have the rules printed at the track and a motor checker available to start working on motors.

Every class is "Silver Can" except GT1 which is 17.5 w/USVTA spec ESC.

Let's get things going to make this a big race!!

Hey, Tim, are you going to require the premounted tires for GT1 & GT2, or open it up to use whatever compounds will work? And if so, do you know if anyone's tried the new Type C tires? Wondering how they compare to B3's & Type A's....

No pre-mounts, any Tamiya tire. I haven't run the Cs yet but they should be the tire of choice. I'll have a set on the track to start next year to see how they run.

Kinda bummed I can't run my M04, just doesn't make sense to me that they stopped allowing them this year.

Tim and I ran some C's with Tamiya Blue inserts (I think they were Tamiya) last Wednesday. They are really soft and there was a lot of gap with the blue inserts. Good grip but they seemed to wear quite a bit in the short time we ran. I ran them on my GT car (21.5 boosted) and picked up around 3 tenths from my X patterns. Hard to tell how fast the wear will affect performance... I guess that's the big question now.

So I take it they are defintely softer than Type A's? Sounds like we may finally have a serious(as in useable for regular racing) tire for TCS use....

Yep, much better than A's. Ran comparable times to the X's in 21.5 USGT last night. I plan on running 17.5 on Sunday to see how they feel with a bit more speed. I'm running with Tamiya 53434 Med inserts.

I'd bet there will be enough out of town guys that show up with them for a decent class. As far as TCS goes there is no other class for the car. For local racing they are approved for the USGT class at the plex and if all the FF03's in the Omaha area were here regularly there could be a class just for FF03's. Also I believe there was something mentioned about a silver can class at the plex leading up to TCS... but last night there were only 2 cars.

If anyone is interested in checking your Silver Can motors, I dug out the motor checker and will have it ready to go Wednesday.
