I just read on www.NHRA.com that Dover Motorsprts is closing Memphis Motorsports Park...

I heard a tidbit about a "possibility" of that happening while I was on chaplain duty down there at the Nationals earlier this month. Terrible decision in my opinion, but that's the corporate world for you.

Seriously....I believe Memphis is a great place for NHRA drag racing and has been widely supported by the wallets of midsouth fans since 1988.

It does suck there closing, I just hope they pay the all the money they owe me befire they shut down totaly.....lol

This sucks, the closest 1/4 mile track is either nashville or st. louis. Looks like byhalia and holly springs is our home now,[1/8 mile]

I sure know one thing, theres going to be alot more street racing here in memphis

I don't think Nashville has a 1/4mile track. I heard something about them getting one a few years back but nothing since. STL or Bowling Green is it I guess? +1 I bet the street scene picks back up in Memphis now..

went to byhalia wed night for test and tune and there was 6 cars racing, we made 14 passes, if byhalia dont get some people to came out there than holly springs is all were going to have

In response to a former post made by someone claiming that they are "glad" the drag strip is closing, there is nothing positive about closing it. No matter if you dislike management or whatever, it isn't a positive thing for the motorsports community in the midsouth...period. However, I am sorry if you have this attitude due to a bad experience. Things happen and humans make mistakes. Let's let the past go and move forward.

By the way... I am not affiliated with the track and yes I have raced there in years past.

byhalia raceway, t&t is tommorrow night and then braket racing every other saturday night. Thats where im going tomorrow night.

I'm going to build the car for the 1/4 mile.It may take a couple of years to build the car maybe by then Memphis will be opened back up. Anybody wanting to donate to the cause I take cash and used small block chevy parts.LOL.I need a short block assembly to pretty much get started on the car.My heads will be what takes so long to get built.

Alright all you race fans, memphis motorsports park will be holding its last race this saturday, it will be final round for nmca, and also a test and tune during the day. Gates open it 9:00am and racing starts at 10:00. So if your not racing rc come sturday, come race, or watch as this will be the last race ever at memphis motorsports park. RIP
