Default permanent track

Don't take this the wrong way but I have to say something about the above comments. And not in a bad way. I understand why they are said. Hell given the circumstances I would probably have made similar posts. I also want to preface this and say that I really don't think that the forums are a good place to be posting what I want to say and I had planned to bring it up at a club meeting. But Since everyone would like to maybe have a chance at having a permanent track before next spring I am going to bring it up now.

So here goes.

I feel like there should be more "club" involvement in selecting a location and building a track. Making one person feel like it is all on them to build a track is not how it should be. It shouldn't be one persons money or one persons sweat that is used to get a track built. That goes the same for the club members. They should not feel like it is the elected officers job to make it happen. It should be an activity for the entire club working together to make it happen.

Here is what I think we should do. The club as a whole needs to decide what they wish they had in a track, what they will settle for and what the budget is. Then vote on it. Then nominate 2-3 people to investigate possible locations using the requirements the club voted on as a guide. Club members could suggest locations and the nominated people could investigate those possibilities.

Then later after all of the possibilities have been investigated report back to the club with the findings. They would tell what the land owner requirements are end etc.

Then the club could decide if one of the locations is worth pursuing.

It may very well be that all locations are too expensive or that there just isn't a suitable location. It would have to be an ongoing project. It might take a few years or it could happen quick. It just depends on what they find. And of course for now we can continue racing at the locations we are now. But at least we are working towards a greater goal.

I think that somewhere around here there is a place we can have an on road and off road track that would fit the needs of the club.

Again I am not attacking anyone. I just want everyone to realize that unless we all work together or someone hits the lottery it's not gonna happen.

i think that tim has a good point with low turnouts to help setup the track and to take everything down and back to storage it is a lot of work for the few who do show up to build the track. sid, steve, and frank have had a big job all year dealing with doing the work with little to no help to set up and tear down and run races all day so we all can do what we love to do. i have had a more than a few people tell me that they would pay more to not have this to deal with. i think all tim is saying let's look into what we can do for the future of this club with property values at a all time low this might be a good time to start looking if nothing comes out of it we have lost nothing

all i got to say is the club has had this problem for as long as i have been a member,so its obvious nothing is going to change. Second if you can't get any one to help with the track now how are you going to them to help with a permanent track, cause you know its going to need keep up year around not just race season.

The only way you are going to see a permanent track is to get lucky and a government official pulls some strings to get the land or you find someone with land that will let you use it with no charge.Or you will have to go to a part of town you wont want to go to.Where I work now I see lots of possibilities but nobody would come due to the location. Just face it commercial property is just too high for what the club has to spend.Your not gonna get a good deal cheap enough here in Memphis. What you have is all the club is capable of doing.

So quit worrying about a permanent track. These are the same issues as always.Nobody will ever help, the same people do all the work, someone that doesn't help with track layout and setup will complain about track layout,so and so are using illegal equipment,he's too fast, I'm too slow,he spends too much money, and he hacked me.

The only permanent track you will see is in Sean's backyard.
