How do you define worth it? I've had number of thing break on mine. All due to my driving. Yes I've spent more then I'd like. But I've also done more jumping with in it in last year then I've done in past 3-4 years combined.
It's got its flaws. Most find its too slow stock. A gearing change can fix that. Motor runs hot. Yes, but haven't had problem with motor. Yes my esc did go up in flames, but I chose not to install the fuse link, it should come installed on all new ones by now.

I love my X-Maxx with the Hobbywing Max6 ESC and 20/50 gearing. It's a beast and loves to jump! I've only broken a few cheap pieces and I beat the heck out of it.

Go for it! I have quite a few trucks to choose from to drive, and I most often choose my XMaxx and my Kraton to bash together. My two favorites, closely filled by xxl2e.
XMaxx is unique, just something about it. It's super fun to drive.

Don't own one myself and here's the reason why. Let's break it down, near $900 for the toy. The problems I've read about, it will need a different motor and an ESC that you won't need 911 on speed dial for $300- 400 with motor mount. So now you have what $1200 - 1300 invested and you haven't even addressed any of the other weak points on the truck. If I were to spend that kind of money on another R/C truck I'd build another E Maxx and have a bulletproof truck. Re sale after it's beaten and abused you'll be lucky to see $500 just not a good investment in my opinion.

The motor is fine. Just put in a Hobbywing Max6 ESC (no mount required) and a Castle dual motor fan, upgrade the pinion to 18-20 and you have a totally new beast of a truck. No other upgrades needed.

I went Max5 with ESC after stock one went up in flames. Figure that a somepoint I'll move to 8s. Stock motor has held up despite some high temp readings.

Yes, worth it. Awesome truck.
Got mine for $900 out the door with charger and lipo's. (You'll probably need cash for this price

I'm buying one because I'm a racer and I need a basher. I will replace the esc with a Max6. I will run the motor till it blows. I don't plan to go to 8s because it destroys drive lines. I've already ordered aftermarket shock shafts and I know how to drive without blowing up the ring and pinion right away.

Just buy it, sell the stock ESC, put a Castle XLX in it, a Castle Dual Blower on the motor, change the gearing, and have a blast.

This is what I did the first time I took mine out and have never regretted buying it:

Absolutely worth it! My X-Maxx takes a beating and keeps on bashing. I have broken a CV and lost a screw out of my front bumper and thats it. This thing is rugged and I haven't even upgraded the ESC or changed the pinions yet.

i had an xmaxx for a few months. I installed a max 6 esc, castle dual motor fans, and 18/50 gearing. The truck was a beast and absolute beast jumping and taking hits. The reason i got rid of the truck is it chewed up a diff ring and pinion every single run. If they fix that i would buy another.

I think the ARRMA Big Rock is a better value and an awesome truck!

I have a xmaxx totally awesome! It is a big truck of course things will break if it flys 30' in the air and lands wrong several times all cars will. I'm actuality surprised how durable it is for it's size and weight i'm through about 30 runs now, I don't baby it but try not to kill it but do bash it and no broken parts other than I scuffed the heck out of the body, bumpers, and undercarriage and the front screws came through the body and I had to put washers under them. Also relies this s a heavy big rocket it hits someone it can cause some serious damage because of its size and weigh. Drive responsibly that what I worry about with my kids.
