Lots of respect to TT for helping to keep the 1/8 mt market fresh. My MT4G3 is still one of if not my favorite rc of all time (and I've been through a few). The g3 was such a big hit for them I don't understand why they didn't stick a little closer to that design (mainly single battery set-up).

The MT4 G3 is a rehashing of ST-1 parts, which apparently they still produce. So that's one line of cars..
What seems to have been a bit of a dud (but still cool looking...) is the E-MTA..
Back when I got my MT4 G3 I strongly considered going with the E-MTA, but in addition to the overly complex transmission, one thing that put me off it was that it weighed more than a kilo more than the MT4 G3.. And the same thing applies to this MT4 G5. That's a pretty hefty weight difference. Hard to imagine that %20 weight won't mean more maintenance and broken stuff..
I guess there are two types of battery owners out there too - those with 4s, 5s, and 6s packs, and those probably coming from 10th scale who already have multiple 2s or 3s packs. If I were to buy this MT4 G5, I'd have to buy four or preferably six new batteries, since I have no 2s or 3s which would work with it...

The new truck looks ok. I just don't like all the plastic that covers everything. The Site says it has a waterproof receiver box, which is nice but, why not just use a waterproof reciever? I got my son a Losi mini 8ight T for Christmas that is waterproof. It's so cool to turn him loose in the yard this winter and not worry about the mud and snow. When he's done I just toss it in my kitchen sink and wash it. Blow it dry with air compressor. Stick it over heat vent on my floor to complete drying it. The truck still looks brand new even though it's been caked in snow and mud several times. I admit it felt wrong hoseing off the electronics with water but so far everything still works great.
TT's site says it also has a waterproof servo but doesn't say whether the speed control is.
