Default Traxxas Revo help required

I've been tasked with repairing this Revo (which belonged to me several years ago) for a mate who recently let his brother drive it into the sea.

As you can see the plastic gear has lost all it's teeth, I've got a replacement but the metal gear doesn't want to come off, is there some kind of knack to it?

Thanks

No e-clips or set screws?
If you have this tranny, there is a set screw ( part number 5385 ) and a clip on the part 5396X?

I don't have a Revo, so the things I say may be stupid?

Çould the bearing be rusted to the shaft?
Try to spray some WD40 on the bearing and the gear/shaft.

Make sure that when it is loose you service the bearing with some proper bearing oil, or place a new bearing in there.

I've had it soaking in wd40 for several days and as far as I can see the shaft it's sitting on is part of the plastic transimission housing.

use a pair of pliers that will fit and grab the gear. Work it easily ( and I mean easy ) back and forth wild pulling. It will come out.
